Lot of hand-wringing about the points system which is a bit sad. Been a ST holder for about 18 years but my younger brother has his first ST this season. I’d never previously made an effort with cup games etc but now we have to build his points up we’ve been to all the FA cup games as well as some of the less appealing away days (Rotherham away, for example). Just have to get on with it. He can’t get a ticket for Wolves, he’s disappointed but he gets it and will watch on tv instead.

Similar situation here with my brother, even if you have a ballot, it’s random chance if you get a ticket or not. In all probability, neither of our brothers would be able to get a ticket.

With all it’s fault, the points system guarantees people purchasing tickets have to a lot of games in recent years.

Fairly confident most supporters in the >800+ catergories will be current ST holders anyway.

First world problem. One of my old bosses has had a ST at old Trafford for years. Only chance he gets for an away or Wembley game is if he can get a corporate.
If/when we get promoted it will be like this for every away game. I wasn’t anywhere near getting a ticket for this one, would have loved one but except that the point system is there, know how it works, so why moan because it’s not helping me. My choice not to go to away games like I used too.

Only thing that pisses me off is the points system and I’ve got a wolves ticket. Boils my piss that people I know who refused to go to Brum and rightly so in my opinion who have been season ticket holders for maybe 35 of the last 40 years but can’t get tickets. People spout on about the points system being fair, is it really?
you would think the club would have the past purchasing history of the last 40 years. That’s the loyal fans. so onto wolves, I’ll end up with Somme 17 year old sniffed up twat next to me clone island up to the max who maybe been going for 3 years when it should be a pal who stood next to me at ewood park watching lee hurst score a worldie. To reiterate, points system is bollocks and thats coming from someone who can get away tickets for any game.

It did feel last year like those who had funded the club by getting a season ticket at St Andrews were prioritised over those who didn't.

It does feel like this year those who funded the club by getting a membership without a guarantee of being able to watch games at St Andrews that season are being prioritised over those who didn't get one.

I went to away games in the top flight but fear it would be difficult to implement a system to prioritise access to tickets for fans who were there for all the top flight games like Ewood Park forty years ago over fans who weren't alive to witness top flight football and have been supporting the team and following the club in the lower tiers against less currently fashionable teams.

Maybe the club insist on photo ID with age proof and priority could go to those with age seniority?
I appreciate you have access to tickets anyway but do you think that might be an improvement?

“IF” we made the SF would we revert to ST only for the first sale period? Or would points be used with a higher ticket per person allowance?
Assume we would get 35-40k tickets? Do we think we would sell out?

ALL games are on the telly, and in boozers if you know where to look.

I agree, if I couldn't get a ticket in the away end for any given game, I'd go on the lash in the <REDACTED>.

Nowhere near as good as being in the actual away end, but better than being in the home end.

ffs the current system is as good as it can be
Get a season ticket every year = 920 points
go to 2 cup games in a year early rounds 160 points
pick 3 away games a season which are not sold out 120 points

you are already on 1200 points

Wolves went I think into the 900 point category
Loyal supporters should be rewarded. The only change i may call is to make the season ticket worth more points, to show commitment to that, but i note it is not only points based, but you need a season ticket to keep your points value

I'd wager that Venn diagram crosses over quite a bit and those crying their eyes out about unfairness are nowhere near either but fancy a nice day out in the cup at the expense of those who regularly commit and have been to the other rounds previously. The very definition of selfish.

Not possible unless they do POTG. My mate already tried and you have to have a membership number with purchase history. Loads of corporate for away fans but a bit pricey.

That’s madness; if people cannot be online at exactly 10am they will miss out in the scramble of potentially 18000 season ticket holders trying to buy at the same time, irrespective of their purchasing history (potentially to someone who had just bought their first ever season ticket). That is a lot less fair than the current points system.
The points system is not perfect, but at least we have a consistent system that people understand and can manage around, and it only gets time critical on the last tranche of the allocation.
However I think there is some merit in the ballot idea, maybe 10% on any allocations of over 2000, but no more.
The club should also stop allocating tickets to supporters clubs. Despite the protestations that it doesn’t happen, it obviously does - I personally know one individual (non season ticket holder) who regularly gets a ticket when he wants one from a well-known supporters club. This is just wrong.
Ultimately, the club have rightly decided to reward those who consistently buy season tickets (and away/cup tickets) over a period of time. That’s about as fair as it can be.

TBF I’ve been a ST holder every year since promotion including the Covid not really a St ST and all home cup games plus all the Wembley visits and I’ve got 830 pts.

So I’m not sure the club gives everyone the correct points.

Suggesting "improvements" to what is already a fair system to suit yourself shows a high level of entitlement, I was in the top bracket for this game but I've only got to that level this season by going to a couple of away games and the cup matches, I expect my points will drop a bit next year when the COVID season is chalked off, so be it, I'll get tickets when I'm allowed and if it's a big game and I miss out it will probably be on TV anyway, stop whining folks, those with the points have earned them.

How would a ballot work, I go to games with my son, I expect most go to games with friends and family, it would be very unlikely that we would both get a ticket in a ballot so i wouldn't want to go anyway, I expect it would be the same for most.

Yep. I don’t think it’s showing the Covid season but my history has everything else on there. I don’t really do away games so not that fussed and don’t think I should get dibs over someone who has done Plymouth on a Tuesday night so no rush to fix. Just saying if you’re gonna rely on a system probably make sure it works for everyone first.

Thats odd. Without checking the fine detail, that sounds very much like my history. I have got 1,120 points. It sounds as if you have a season’s season ticket points missing. The scheme works as follows:-

2020/21:

  • Championship Club Membership – 250 points
  • CCM with Season Ticket – 300 points

2021/22:

  • Season Ticket holders – 230 points
  • Home Games – 10 points
  • Additional 10 points for each home cup game
  • Away Games – 10 points
  • Additional 10 points for each away evening game
  • Additional 10 points for each away cup game

2022/23:

  • Season Ticket holders – 230 points
  • Home Games – 10 points
  • Additional 10 points for each home cup game
  • Away Games – 10 points
  • Additional 10 points for each away evening game
  • Play-Off Final – 10 points

2023/24:

  • Season Ticket holders – 230 points
  • Home Games – 10 points
  • Additional 10 points for each home cup game
  • Away Games – 10 points
  • Additional 10 points for each away evening game
  • JSB Membership (Non Season Ticket Holder) Holder – 50 points

Thats looks like at least 940 points on season tickets alone.

It's funny how the points system debate always gets fired up for the 'big' games... I didn't see people moaning about not having enough points for Plymouth away midweek.

You might not be so laid back if a points error means you don’t get tickets for our three Wembley appearances this year.

Other clubs run ballots so there must be a way of doing it, but it definitely adds additional time & cost for the club.
It would almost certainly be for individual tickets so if you need 2 then I guess you don’t enter the ballot and you get your points up by attending the games that are currently going to general sale.

Unfortunately the points system is the fairest but it’s not perfect and open to exploitation. I’ve seen people advertising away tickets on Facebook before they are even for sale.

There is no perfect system.

In my experience the points have been spot on since the scheme started, one of the few admin things that the club got right in the SISU era!

Like I say I’m not bothered for myself, but I doubt I’m the only one. Hopefully it all works out as the windows rolls over, I’m sure admin during Covid and under Sisu wasn’t great.

My history gave me 1050 points manually awarded in July 2022 and then this years season ticket and cup games and a manual deduction of 290 points
