We’re “forced” to do lots of things that are statistically safe which have a net benefit to society. This is no different. It’s just become a political weapon.

Not me making it political , its completely down to the individual should they want to get a vaccine .. just like the flu jab ..choice

No it isn’t you making it political. But the idea that it’s just about individual choice is a political one. Society doesn’t work if everyone makes their own choice about everything.

Fair enough lad it’s a long debate to get stuck into on a forum. I’d actually rather not “force” people but also think there’s not really a good argument not to aside from people don’t like being told what to do. Enjoy the day out with the Mrs.

Can you compare the situation with smoking?
it's not illegal to smoke, it's an individual choice.
However, for the benefit and safety of others, you cannot smoke in an enclosed area, pubs, restaurants etc.
Is this not the same philosophy for the vaccine?

Research from reliable sources on all aspects is the key to making any individual decision. By looking at the results of clinical trials and studies you will come to your conclusion from the information you gathered not heard. Then you can say as an individual I made an independent decision for myself.

Anything else outside a certain category no matter your vaccine status your decision is or was based on manipulation or pressure placed by any outside source. If you are in that position, then to ridicule or judge someone in a different status, is a bit like the pot and kettle saying.

It's not a simple situation that's certain and its a life changing experience, but In the end we all have to find the best way to navigate through this and at some point all come together without fear of each other. In time a question on a vaccine will not be asked or put as a prerequisite to share company. Research, testing and medical advancements will bring more understanding and normality will resume it whatever form you decide.

My decision is 2 fold I will not ask anyone a personal medical question. And secondly will respect others decisions they make and rules they set on vaccine status.

Yes it is a choice for the individual to make, it Is also a decision for the organisation/governing body to set the guidelines on what is the policy and procedure. Nobody is free in any society to do what they want, there are repercussions If guidelines/laws are not followed.
Those that make the choice to not wear a mask do so at the risk to others as well themselves.

It strikes me on reading the last few pages that there still seems to be a myth that being vaccinated protects others from catching the virus from you, it doesn't. You can be double jabbed but still catch COVID, carry it without perhaps even knowing it and infect others.
Vaccination prevents the virus from making you seriously ill, it doesn't stop you catching it.

The manager of a football club can’t force his players to have the vaccine. That’s a personal choice and can only advise what he thinks is best, if he threatened them they’d have a strong case with the PFA.

I don’t but the fact you think individualism is tied to morality is interesting. Rands ideas really took hold.

Yes I thought so, it’s a difficult predicament for managers, especially if they’ve had someone affected…

Have mixed views. Know someone who had a really bad allergic reaction to a jab in the past where they had to call an ambulance etc. Think he will eventually get the jab but is understandably scared. Also, the distrust from certain communities is understandable.

That being said, although it's a "personal choice", the level of vaccine take-up will effect the outcome for everyone. So in that regard, it's not a completely personal choice - effects us all.

I love it when people infer that they are an "alpha male" on the internet, proper gives me the horn.

We’ve all done that with an early kick off. Settle down to watch the game and realise it’s halftime already.

Were there not some others above suggesting fines or similar? I agree with you it’s a problem if it leads to them missing games down the line.

If the vaccine totally prevented you from catching Covid, fining them for missing a game if they contracted it having refused a vaccine would arguably be OK.

But as it doesn't guarantee you won't get it it's not really enforceable because they could argue they'd have caught even if they'd had the vaccine.

Bright is going to push the patience of the staff, very unpredictable on and off the field. Not worth it in my opinion can win you games but this doesn't sound good if he wasn't given permission.

It’s all risk reduction though isn’t it? Studies suggest 90ish% reduction in risk of infection.
