Football is supposed to be an entertainment business isn't it ? "Fairweather"? Most Cov fans have stood/sat through so much dross over the years I don't blame them for picking games where there may be a chance of success.

How the fuck would anyone expect a bumper crowd against Yeovil anyway . The Crewe game was the clubs only chance in the last few years to actually push on and win something .

But as always we fucked that one up didn't we .

OP is correct , give the Coventry public a whiff of success and they will come in droves.

Coventry during the climb to the top and for a while (i.e a succesful side ) were pulling in around 30-35k average , this club with a smidge of success would be well supported , having nothing to shout about for almost 30 years , turns your fanbase off

Was just about to say the same thing. Yes, the Yeovil game was a bigger game, but we LOST against Crewe and it was yet another failure. A failure heaped upon failure after failure, ad nauseum.

If we had beaten Crewe and then only had 11,000 against Yeovil I think you'd have more of a case. Fans clamouring for Wembley tickets but ignoring the league game. The disppointment after the Crewe game was palatable. Hope was so high for just the smallest whiff of success and that hope was blown clear out of the water in that 90 mins. That defeat was so cruel and after so many years of absolute nothingness, fans were crestfallen.

At the end of the day it is a past time some can't afford every game so chose others have work commitments, other may have to travel all adds up.

Oh and How many at brum and other matches in the cup the other night?

The other problem we face is we always seem to play shit at big attended games, that then puts off the ones that need to be turned.

Their you go made me say it we will be fucked now

Well, that is very true. These big games have attracted a few fairweather/occasional supporters and we have always failed miserably on each occasion.

It's no wonder they never come back until the next big game.

Every club has fairweather supporters. City fans on the whole have been very supportive. Not many clubs who would still get 11,000-12,000 on the back of 30 years of abysmal failure.

i beleive if we got to the prem we could be like a soton, fulham, wba etc ie 10th-relegation, well never know each season

rest assured 17th in prem can be classed as a HUGE success.

Bollox, as soon as we hover mid table championship you would be saying youd be happy with low/mid table premier league
If we dream the team could go somewhere theres only one place you would want it to go, Premier league all day long, seriously, who would you rather watch City play on a wet Friday night in September Gillingham or Tottenham/Arsenal/Man utd.

As for the original question, lets hope so!

Definitely far too many fair weather fans than other clubs, just take a look how many season ticket holders the Foxes have and check-out their average attendances last season.

All depends on what success we get but 10,000 to 12,000 in this Division and maybe 15,000 to 18,000 in the Championship?

In 1968 we were the 14th best supported team in the country although in the second division with 28,000+. The following season we were 10th with 34,000+ . If we get promoted over the next 3/4 seasons up to the Prem we can repeat those attendances or even improve them.

Another point why all the talk about fairweather fans? There are plenty who attend fairly regularly but not every game for various reasons. When there is a big game on most of those occasional supporters go because of obvious reasons. When the average is, say 10,000 they aren't the same 10,000 going every week are they?

Cant improve on that, with a good run of form we could get 18-22k comfortably, banging in lots of goals too, quite a few more, what a time to need a great first half of the season.

Unsurprisingly not....and you also didn't get a priority ticket status for potential wembley visit. Go figure....

Quite funny really, I saw 1 or 2 people wearing one of the those half/half scarves - cov and Chelsea, obviously the last time they went to the Ricoh.

I always find it very strange on this subject when people seem so resentful of part time supporters that they would genuinely rather not have them there and would rather not see a full house. So self congratulatory are they about their `hard core` status that they cannot accept other peoples choices or what is best for the club.

Coventry City are the 21st best supported club that has had league status since records began. This for a club that has basically won fuck all and not achieved a top 6 place for 40 years.

Absolutely fucking amazing loyalty if you ask me. I've just awarded myself a medal and I suggest you all do the same.

Easy to answer this question?

Lets get promotion this season and then sit back and see what happens.........:thinking about:

Then do it again the following season.

And you are moaning about the queues at the ticket office now....

Fuck me will have to camp out for a week.
