And yes I agree with you. We had a lot more confidence in Goldies ability to find the net and be in the right positions to accept the ball.

I think the team isn't as confident with Clarke because Clarke expects everyone to make the chances for him while Goldie made his own chances and also accepted the chances that were made for him!

That's why I don't like Clarke. He just doesn't work hard enough to deserve a position in the starting line up!

Grendel Goldie was a 20 goal a season striker.

But the difference between Goldie and Clarke is that Goldie worked as part of a team.

He would make his own chances, set up other's to score and also use the chances that were set up for him.

Clarke does not work in a team. At Crewe I saw 10 players working as a team and 1 being a lazy arse.

He expects everyone to make the chances for him, sure he might try and lay a ball off for Elliot but at Crewe he got it wrong so many times it was cringe worthy.

He maybe runs at the defense once or twice in a whole game because as far as I see it, he doesn't want too do that.

So yes I'd rather have someone who is hard working and scores 20 goals a season (like Goldie) than a lazy arse fether who doesn't want to work for his bread and butter and expects everyone else to do it for him!

Leon Best back in training w Blackburn - is well down pecking order there and maybe they would want to farm him out for a bit - I would have him back as always rated him and he would offer a different option. Would always rather have a "lazy" class act like Stern John or Best rather than a headless chicken - Morrell was simply never good enough and even working like a trojan didn't make him a good player.

lets put it another way .Clarke may get 20 goals ,but when the rest of your team aren't scoring because hes not pulling his weight and not pulling defenders away to create space or coming out wide like goaldie did and don't get me started on the fact he cannot hold a ball up for squat.
when we had mcgoaldrick we were also scoring a lot of goals from our midfielders baker especially.he pulled defenders away went out wide ,had genuine ability to create goals for others aswell,and held the ball up well.
Clarke is not a good enough replacement if we are serious about promotion be it this season or next

You're right. He doesn't bring others into the game. He only scores goals. Ever heard of some bloke called Linekar? Or Quinn? Or Phillips? We don't have mcgoldrick get over it. You are talking crap. Tell me given our budget who would be better.

Couldn't agree with you more EVO! That's exactly how I would have described the difference between Clarke and Goldie.

He just isn't as good, nor as productive as Goldie was.

Apparently we offered 10k, don't know the validity of this but I don't think it is too unbelievable, I think had we kept McG, I think automatic promotion was a real possibility because then we were a constant threat, scoring, literally, for fun, now, we are pretty impotent, with the goals conceded, I can only see 4th as the max now, unless this Philliskirk turns out to be amazing, which is very, x10, unlikely!
