football expert says firesale of players will potentially lead to us not being able to fulfil fixtures and liquidation anyway.....can see many players just released to find a new club

Yes, I am indeed unaware of that!
Reading the rules concerning points deduction that someone kindly posted on another thread, it seemed to state that if administration was entered into before the third (or fourth) Thursday in March, then the points would be deducted in the current season. Nowhere did it state that the Football League had the power to arbitrarily decide in which season the points would be deducted.

the rules for going into admin are quite clear, it has to happen before March 28th or the -10 is applied next season. the grey area is with points deductions (i believe -15) for coming out of admin without a CVA. However in practical terms you can't start 2 seasons in admin, you lose your golden share, so we would have to come out of administration some time before the end of next season. on the face of it then if we go into admin after March 28th and SISU refuse to agree to a CVA we are looking at -25 next season. Looking at the table at the moment that would put us bottom before you even consider that if we're in admin for any length of time we're likely to lose many of our better players.

no totally different to this season and I think Dave makes a very good point regards the fact that the potential defecit points we could be on would now see us bottom of the league

Leeds United filed for administration with only a few days remaining in the 2006–07 season, which automatically triggered a 10 point penalty. This placed Leeds at the bottom of the table and relegated the club, but they were extremely likely to have been relegated anyway. By entering administration during the 2006–07 season, they hoped to avoid starting the 2007–08 season on −10 points. The Football League saw this as a club trying to exploit a loophole and changed the rules. From 2007–08, any club entering administration after the fourth Thursday in March would have their 10 point deduction suspended until the following season. Similarly, if a club were relegated the deduction was also to be suspended until the start of the following season.

Yep, i do mindlessly follow them. That's because i love supporting them. If he's "got better things to do" then dont buy a season ticket and don't come again. Go b&q and tesco with the missus and have fun. Prat

You can see where this is going, particularly with the Court hearing timing.
'IF' we are not in the playoffs before this date then SISU will allow club to go into admin and take the 10 points hit this season.

The 'Good News' is that SISU have then accepted that any money they have put in is lost and the club is now worth what its worth with no increased expectations on value to claw some of this loss back. (Hoffman £1 ?)
Any potential buyer will get a club at its knock down value. Hopefully at that point that buyer will also buy the stadium, car parks etc at its now knock down 'unused' value.
The bad news is that if we don't sort it out before then, SISU will drag it out into next year. 10 point deduction next season and SISU farce continues.

Question : Is Admin best this Month ? and are ACL doing the right thing ?

I just wish it would be sorted so I can get back to just reading the forum banter and stop wasting my time writing (guessing) what could happen.

Or take my brand new VW Camper and tour. There's more to life than CCFC and shopping. Look back in a few years and see who's the prat. I've been there this past 46 years.

I dont think any of us will really know if its the right thing until the dust has settle, but for me I am sick and tired of the mess hanging over us all the time.
We have been in a mess on & off the pitch for years & I just hope we have a football club playing in Coventry once this has been dealy with

We started with a potential 15 point destruction this season.

SISU sacked the manager after 3 points then it took 5 straight defeats before the ship was steadied, so ten next season is a walk in the park.

Its worse for those like myself who were there in the 60's when they got promoted from the then second division under Jimmy Hill. A dabble in Europe, the FA cup and watching then on match of the day every week. Sigh

Not with a new squad. The 'better' players will not be here as we won't be able to afford them. We will then have to live on our takings under fair play rules. Any high rents paid will reduce this further. Other income streams (available to other clubs) like car parking, stadium sponsorship, catering etc etc will not be available to us.

To me not picking up points at the start of the season is a whole lot different to starting on -25. Fair enough we've always sold players but the potential in admin is a firesale and we're talking a lot of players leaving with the exception of those who are being overpaid and are under contract as they may refuse to move. Whilst in admin we will be under an embargo and can't sign anyone and even once we come out of it I can't imagine any players who have an option to go anywhere else are going to pick a club paying low wages (assuming any new owner will be trying to break even leading to a huge cut it the wage budget) and starting on -25.

Not quite as old as you italiahorse

My 1st few games were early 80's & started going regularly mid 80's onwards. We are lucky I suppose have some good times to look back on, what have the kids & even those in early twenties known, constant in house fighting & this dross week in week out

Fl rules state admin after 4th week of March means penalty is next season.

So do you not think that ACL have done the maths to try and ensure it is this season?

Quite a few City fans within ACL apparently and if they do have the best intentions of Coventry City at heart then maybe the timing of this was very much in their thoughts.

Well yep. From what I have read, not saying it is true, but they are saying 10 points off this season.

If points are to come off then this season would be ideal, not that any deduction is a blessing of course. But if they are coming off anyway, this is the season it needs to be.

Yes, would agree with that ... I don't think we'll be able to make up the 6 points, not just from our point of winning, but relying on others losing. If we must take a hit, take it now where there's no real threat of relegation.

Are you sure mate ?
That ACL statement suggests that we will.

''We are, of course, well aware that under the current Football League regulations, CCFC will face a points deduction and we will do everything we can to ensure that the case is heard by the High Court before the end of the current season. While this opens up the possibility of a ten point deduction this season, the Board believes this is better than leaving CCFC facing a much larger deduction at the start of next season."

not so sure ACL know the rules of the 4th Thurs in March - is this statement is verbatim then they think if it's "done by the end of this season" - its needs to be done on the day of the hearing or within the week after

Minus 25 points?
This surely is an absolutely worst case scenario. Has this actually ever happened to a club yet????

Off the top of my head Leeds, Luton, Bournemouth and Portsmouth have all had, or are going to get in Pompeys case, additional points deductions for coming out of administration without a CVA. Probably more but I'm too lazy to check!

Would take a second reading, but section 12.3.3 ans 12.3.4 suggests to me that ACL have got it right: points would only be deducted this season.

Some think/hope that were true ... few true fans actually believe it... irrespective; delusions of grandeur perhaps for some?.. sure thing Crewe fans cannot ever be accused of that, particularly small minded ones like you?

No delusions or pretensions at Crewe, soundly run, soundly managed, 4 managers only in 30 years, own ground, admit it needs improving still but we`re ok and have never or will pay over the top wages for anyone, thats the way football should be now! compromise or go out of business!

Oh ... that's a revelation!
Now we know that soundly run, soundly managed, 4 managers only in 30 years, own ground will only get us to where we already are.

Blakescrewe- In my view you were entitled to berate those on here who were overly optimistic about our chances against Crewe in the JPT. Some of my fellow sky blues took liberties before the game in their attitide and it was not justified. I baulked as I read some of my kindred spirits being disrespectful to your club assuming we had a passage rite to the final.
Life has taught me many hard lessons that counting chickens is foolhardy at best.

However your position in gloating at our financial misfortune is not warranted or welcome- we the 8-10,000 hardcore fans aren't responsible for this mess- poor management decisions are responsible. You are mocking my 35 year unbroken allegiance. As a fellow football fan you are out of line- wise up mate- there but for the grace of god go most clubs outside of the Premier League and some in it.
