If you have the knowledge in the summer your number 1 is out for months and you can go and do something about it then you do, to give yourself the best chance.Wilson is fine as a number 2 keeper. I’m not over the top about it. If he was as good as you claim he’d have played more than one season of first team football by his early 30s and wouldn’t have had a replacement brought in for him after his one season playing.So your view is that we spend more millions on another keeper, despite already having a young keeper we spent millions on. One of those keepers is then surplus to requirements come January. It’s not like outfield players, instead one is just out of the team. Effectively like setting fire to your money. Plus, would the keeper come knowing they’re at serious risk come January.
If it’s a loan, who is that player? I haven’t seen a suggestion so far. In effect we’d be trying an unproven keeper at first team level.
You’re over the top about Wilson. He’s not brilliant but he’s been competent at the level for us, and he’s played enough games for it not to be a case over over performance.

As had been pointed out - he’s an international goalkeeper with premier league and Ligue one experience and has played in top flights all over the world, they’re not coming here on a 6 month contract for 5k a week.Would he?

If we can’t entice a keeper pretty keen on playing time, on a free transfer, we must be skint. I mean you’re talking about £1 mill to guarantee having no problems in goal for the season. It’s worth it.But until we do we haven't got it

But we're going into the season with 2 experienced GK's. If anything happens to Wilson we're left with Collins and someone without the experience needed.
