He literally was in the Eredivisie for 1.5 seasons, Jan 23-Jun 24.

Wilson is fine as a number 2 keeper. And that’s who plays when your first choice keeper is injured. The alchemy Lampard needs to pull off is offloading Collins.

To stand in for a few games sure. To start for at least half of the season, no.

That's who plays if your number 1 gets injured in the season. If you have the knowledge in the summer your number 1 is out for months and you can go and do something about it then you do, to give yourself the best chance.

Not struggling with it at all. Just aware that there’s no way in the world we go in with 4 keepers. King won’t finance it and nor should he.

What can be done about it? Force someone to sign Wilson or Collins? Demand a goalkeeper who doesn’t want wages from a club that doesn’t want a fee?

So your view is that we spend more millions on another keeper, despite already having a young keeper we spent millions on. One of those keepers is then surplus to requirements come January. It’s not like outfield players, instead one is just out of the team. Effectively like setting fire to your money. Plus, would the keeper come knowing they’re at serious risk come January.

If it’s a loan, who is that player? I haven’t seen a suggestion so far. In effect we’d be trying an unproven keeper at first team level.

You’re over the top about Wilson. He’s not brilliant but he’s been competent at the level for us, and he’s played enough games for it not to be a case over over performance.

I’m not over the top about it. If he was as good as you claim he’d have played more than one season of first team football by his early 30s and wouldn’t have had a replacement brought in for him after his one season playing.

The problem is they were saying Dovin could be out till after Xmas, and relying on Wilson and Collins could cost us big time as there’s a lot of points to play for before the new year .

Yeah like I said it's all dependent on if dovin really will be back by November or not in terms of me being happy to not to sign a new keeper

Who would want reasonably big wages that could go elsewhere in the squad.

As had been pointed out - he’s an international goalkeeper with premier league and Ligue one experience and has played in top flights all over the world, they’re not coming here on a 6 month contract for 5k a week.

I think most people realize we have three keepers on ours books who are all on reasonable wages.
Until one leaves the club you cant bring another in even on loan the budget won't allow it.

It also means you are not only paying Dovin whilst out injured. You would be paying either Collins or Wilson to be idle out of the 25 man squad and wasting a senior players wage.

If you are not prepared to have Wilson cover Dovin then it is pointless having him here. Whether there are better options out there as a number 2 is a whole fresh debate.

Until either Collins or Wilson is moved on, I can't see the goalkeeper options of Dovin, Wilson and Collins changing.

Lose Bidwell and Collins, you’ve probably got 20k a week right there.

Very doubtful figures there .
Wouldn't imagine Collins being a big earner and wasn't Bidders signed under SISU?
Maybe £12k ball park

If we can’t entice a keeper pretty keen on playing time, on a free transfer, we must be skint. I mean you’re talking about £1 mill to guarantee having no problems in goal for the season. It’s worth it.

So you pay 4 keepers 5 including the young lad in the squad. Plus you would be paying either Collins or Wilson to be idle out of the 25 man squad. I can't see your scenario happening unless either Wilson or Collins is moved on. That might be easier said than done.

Shall we look at it from another angle for those who are happy with Wilson being our No.1 for about half a season?

So what happens if Wilson gets injured after the transfer window closes? Calamity Collins becomes our No.1 GK

But we're going into the season with 2 experienced GK's. If anything happens to Wilson we're left with Collins and someone without the experience needed. That would mean season over even before it's warmed up.

If Wilson is as good as most of the forum think, there should be a queue of clubs after him, never mind Collins

If Wilson is as good as everyone is telling us on here why are so many also telling us it would be hard to move him on? It doesn't add up.

If Wilson's goes and your free came in, you would as you put it have "calamity Collins covering".

So now you want Wilson and Collins gone. Ok. As I said before easier said than done and at least one would have to move before someone comes in.

If Collins was going to be starting the season, I would be extremely concerned. For Wilson, it isn't ideal by any means, but is it as catastrophic as some think? I'm not so sure. It really depends on how well he plays. He has shown at times he can be a very good goalkeeper, he just also has moments which can cost games. If he starts doing that then I agree that we could be in trouble.

Ideally you would bring in another keeper, but how do you find someone who is going to be a step up, and is willing to play only a temporary role for a few months until Dovin gets back? It's a tough situation for the club really.

One thing is for sure, if Wilson does start, we need to get over it and back him.
