As there are posters telling me they wouldn't be concerned if our golden glove winner started the season. Would you be happy if Wilson was in between the sticks against Hull.

Not as black and white is it. IF we cant afford/manage to bring in a GK then we have to go with what have, which means Wilson starts no question.

YES in ideal world, I would have someone on loan until January OR sign someone if we can shift collins, to allow Dovin time to get fit properly.

What is black and white is collins must not play again. For his sake more than anything.

No. Neither him or Collins should be at the club.

I don't think it would be a disaster but I'd rather we bought someone in to cover for Dovin.

However if we have limited funds Lampard will have to decide if that is a priority.

Worried that if we don't bring someone in there will be a temptation to rush Dovin back.

Fine by me. We’re not in a position to spend again on a keeper. Bigger concern is a Wilson injury, so ideally we move Collins on and a new replacement brought in, at £0 cost.

For devil's advocate purposes.....I have heard lots of very positive reviews about Bell. Would we be happy him starting?

Wilson is a fine keeper, dovin is better, but we're not going to get a keeper in as cover for dovin while hes injured.

Wilson absolutely isn’t a fine keeper and will once again cost us points.

How long is Dovin out for? Do we know?

It's an awkward one this. People have suggested loaning a keeper, but clubs will be hesitant to do that if he isn't going to be starting most games.

All things being well I doubt we'll see Dovin back before January. By which point a loan keeper could be sent back to their parent club to be loaned out again.

As said on another thread it isn’t even worth debating. If anyone thinks Collins or Wilson should be starting first game is clearly mad.

He's not and you wouldn't need to spend £5 million to get a better keeper than Wilson. If we have real ambition, going into the season with Wilson starting is simply laughable.

£5m gets you Kepa to Arsenal. Whats wrong with an experienced loan keeper in for 6 months or a season. Goalkeepers are relatively cheap at this level even for good ones.

The fact 'yes' is at 64% at the moment is a deeply troubling statistic for this forum.

Have you seen the majority of Collins' games for us. He is a liability. Not just last season, but his first year at the end of the season too. Wilson is ok as a number two and good to have around the place, but I agree he is also prone to the odd gaffe too, but not on the same level, or as consistently as Collins.

I wondered how long it was before Wilsons clown antics in training would be attributed as a positive for him

I voted no, the only way WE would sign him, is on a pay when you play contract.

He's better than Collins, but if we have serious ambitions of being in the play offs we need to find someone suitable for 6 months on loan.

A recipe for disaster… I’m not convinced on any of our keepers.. Dovin is the best of the 3 by far though but even he dropped a clanger or 2

For me is the the most important position on the pitch..

No.
Said before - if he is, worry about either
I) our ambition to improve
II) What happened in the transfer window

This forum wants wright out, simms out, wanted da silva out recently, wanted kitching out half way through last season, doesnt rate eccles, and continues to see wilson as a awful keeper, beyond me.

see wilson put in a few good performances and then we'll see a flurry of "i always said he was good", "he won golden glove a couple of years ago, always knew he was decent tbf..."

Wilson is an awful Keeper, we need to improve on Simms and JDS.

Not sure what is controversial about that.

Wish Wilson could have put a few of those good performances in in the playoffs...

honestly? i dont think any experienced keeper is going to join with two other backup keepers already at the club (unless one or two goes), and knowing that we have dovin coming back. i dont even know who is available.

I'd be ok with it but would rather an upgrade in place, no idea if any PL goalkeepers on a loan would fit the bill. As long as it's not Collins though really

I think @Brighton Sky Blue s suggestion was a good and sensible one. A rare thing indeed on here.

The options are pay for someone who is good enough to take Dovin's place and will come here expecting to be first choice, take a prem kid on loan and hope he's good enough or if we can find one an experianced pro who is maybe a prem second or third choice who is happy with a 6 month loan.

The last option is probably our best one but would I imagine be very difficult to find. You're almost at the trying to do a Joe Cole type move. Find someone on the verge of retirement who is happy enough to get some extra playing time. But is there someone like that who is an upgrade on Wilson available?
