The bet player we signed over the last few years was playing for FGR reserves. I'd rather we bought in bargains like that than over the hill names and ex players like everybody on here is always suggesting.

What a cock up this deal should not be going through until 11.59 tomorrow, but I guess they just don't give a shit anymore so will do it tonight and still spend nothing

Willis in my opinion has definitely improved this season with age and that is backed up by the fact there has been several clubs interested- it seems also clear that anyone with a hint of sellable asset will be on there way - JOKE

So we've sold our captain hours before the window ends, is anyone surprised?

Knew from when we seen the Rotherham manager before the last home checkatrade game that he was keen on him. He mentioned he was a fan and was disappointed he wouldn't be seeing him that evening.

I rate Willis, absolutely. But I think it's unfortunate that he's a CB with value, and CB isn't a position we are struggling for since Clarke's arrival more so as he cemented one of the places and then the loan lad rocked up to take the other. Add to that's Turnball, who I don't rate but as a back up is he that bad to have around? Especially with no decent value, it makes Willis the more likely to leave

I'd personally like Slade to be given some of the cash to buy a couple of the decent non league players, the striker Hawkins from Dagenham for starters

Which bit? Only one typo which wasn't bad for me, but I'm guessing you aren't referring to that

He's a good centre back, but a poor right back. He is prone to the odd mistake and if he didn't have pace he would be caught out a lot more. It's a shame he spent too long playing RB for us, and when he was CB he was usually next to somebody poor.

He has the ability to play at a higher level and it's a shame it's not with us, but if we were going to lose one of the rumoured players, then a CB is probably the least concerning based on the cover we have there.

Strange move for him too, bottom of L1 to bottom of Championship. Surely if he waited till summer he would get a better move. I wonder if hes been "encouraged" to leave?

Well good luck Jordan, thanks for your efforts with the Sky Blues. I saw you on debut at home to Southampton in the relegation season and you came on as a sub, played right back if I remember right and did quite well.

FWIW, he is the last player on our books who played for us in the Championship; our final link to that league is severed just as our residence in our current league is also about to be ended.

He went to school in Nuneaton. I think he was with Blues for a while but don't think he is from there. I think as a defender he was okay. Won his tackles and his headers. Not the best at going forward but probably younger and better than his likely replacement ( whoever that will be).

We've just sold him. What on earth is the point in appealing his red card? Let me guess: 'Sorry CCFC fans, we didn't have enough time to sign any more players for our important relegation battle, because we were too busy faxing over Jordan's appeal... Even though we just sold him to Rotherham.'

Just another day as a Coventry fan... You literally couldn't make this shit up.

So we've sold our captain... was he really a captain, a natural leader?
To me no, he was one of our own and a very useful player tho. I liked him as a central defender not a right back but he lacks height for me to do that role. Quick, strong but very error prone which he was lucky his pace got him out of jail sometimes.
Good luck to him...
Ive a huge feeling Richard Wood is gonna be used as a makeweight in the deal.

I think he's done well this season, also must be hard to be captain of such a poor team at such a young age. I hope he does well if he goes. He's going to have to put his best poker face on though to get a good deal, imagine having to pretend you don't mind staying.

Think you may be right. Funny that they didn't seem to give a shit until he was on his way. Probably an extra tenner thrown in.

This is becoming absolutely ridiculous - we can't score and we're conceding 3/4 goals week in/week out - so we go and sell one of our few centre backs?! Absolutely disgraceful, why don't we just fold now.... there is nothing left of this club - there's not even a carcass left for SISU to dine on.

Fisher surely has to be torched out of the Ricoh next Tuesday

I'm disappointed.
Yes, he isn't premier class, but he was good for this level and could cope in some championship teams.
As others have mentioned, he is a Cov lad and showed his desire, he is (was) our captain and leading scorer...
Good luck Jordan.

The appeal could backfire. He might get an extra match ban added on. Like others have said, he was better in the middle than at full back. I'd be happy if they got Sterry back in although DKE is a better right back than Willis.

Not bothered. Half decent. But in reality done fuck all. Part of the shite that has us where we are now. Granted not his fault, but every last one of them could leave and I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Good luck to him.

Get ready for selling anything that moves and worth anything. Willis, Stevenson, Haynes, Harries. Then once the window closes anything else with value like the training ground. Now we are relegated we can concentrate on Fisher's 1 million+ profit.

Yep good luck to him but we have lost better players than him that I was gutted about, this one leaves me with ah well another one gone, the only loss I see is another player, good luck to him in his relegation battle which also looks a lost cause
