This is kind of my point. Everyone is obsessed about the centre when comparing cities. I'm more concerned with where you have to live, the suberbs. It's alright having a city centre full of wanky restaurants but not much good when you can't step outside your street after dark. Even the worst excesses of Cov are laughable in comparison to some of the areas I listed above. Liverpool is much talked about on here and yes a fine centre it has. Would I prefer to reside in Coventry or Liverpool suberbs? Coventry anytime. Relatively speaking from my experience, Cov is thankfully generally soft as shite

Probably a fair point. Coventry given its population seems very small in terms of area compared to others of a similar size.

Most areas around the edges are safe enough.

The centre is a toilet but no one has to go as there are plenty of better places to visit in the vicinity.

Even places like Rugby have areas outside of the centre like Brownsover that used to be pretty notorious, no idea if it still is.

I don't know, not that it's particularly relevant as either way it demonstrates some confidence in the concept

I think it is as it demonstrates a buyer's willingness to actually live there.

It demonstrates confidence that somebody would want to live there. A btl investor isn't going to spend a fortune to keep it empty.

That's exactly what buy-to-let investors have been doing recently, or 'buy-to-leave' as it's been rechristened!

I always get Long Lawford mixed up with Lord Longford.

Lawford was the chap who befriended Myra Hindley wasn't he?

It's easily done, I often get Lord Longford mixed up with Cindy Crawford.
