I know we are crap and some players are worse than others but to boo a player is just not right. If you want to make a statement just do not clap him when he goes off.
No player will ever perform if you give him abuse, these are stupd thick footballers and need to be treated as children to some degree.
Please do not lower ourselves any futher by booing our own players regardles of how poor they are. we have to get use to the fact we have division 1 players.

I personally don't boo or jeer but people pay their money and do want they want. You say "lower ourselves" - go to some of the North East clubs and see how they receive mediocrity.

Am sure your right Grendel but I believe we have to accept that our players are at a level we are not used to, we expect more and its not going to happen. By booing its just going to divide support even more.

Unless an individual player is quite clearly giving less than 100% then no proper supporter would ever boo their own player. Any that do are idiots as it doesnt help the players.

Right so all we need to do is cheer Garry mcsheffrey and his performances and work rate will improve?

some boo
some dont go any more
those that boo still pay into the club by buying tickets,
those that dont go, dont pay into the club...

Who's the "supporter" ?

oh, btw, i wouldnt boo, but I have stopped going to the ricoh.

So we cant boo in case it upsets them but we can say they are stupid and thick?

Did you even read my post?

Yes - his performances are unaffected by whatever reception he recieves.

Workrate is subjective and open to interpretation.

Football is very much a confidence game.

I can just about understand people booing "in the heat of the moment", but surely everyone can see that the effect of booing will be to reduce confidence and thus to reduce performance.

i remember when we played brum at home last season we were urged not to boo marlon king as it might spur him on, surely it could have a similar effect on home players. there have been times where i have booed but only when i think the team deserves it. if theyre looking for a confidence boost then thy should have really looked and listened to the sky blue army last week at arsenal. how many teams get cheered off like that after losing 6-1. they played excellent and got cheered off losing. last night they played terrible and got booed off drawing.

Are you honestly saying that you can't see any difference in effect on a player's (or a team's) confidence between being booed by the opposition supporters and being booed by their own supporters?

Its no wonder they've been allowed to get away with this dross for so many years. Bollox, when they're bad they can expect my displeasure.

This is what I was thinking last night, we we booing our playing when the fakes had the ball in their own half and were going no-where! CALM DOWN EVERYONE.
Why??

Fakes? Get a grip and get over it, they've been MK Dons for ages.

You say that to AFC Wimbledon fans who's club was ripped away from them, Winkleman should have bought MK City who went bust in 2002 and worked their way up the leagues like everybody else has to

I won't get 'over it' thanks. Time is no reason to forget wrongs of the FA

back to Grendels comment, look around the country, some fierce fans. Our lot? Come on we'll cheer a successful 2 yard pass. Mediocre FC

Careful Baginton, you'll have me in tears.
Wimbledon, Milton Keynes, Winkleman or owt else has nothing to do with the thread or our predicament. The booing is something the under achieving, over paid and couldn't care less wasters might have to put up with until they pull their fingers out.

You can't reason with the unreasoning. Give it up Steve B50.

Of course a supporter does not boo his own players unless the player has engaged in conduct which is unacceptable, such as abusing the fans.
We have the, "I pay their wages so I'm entitled..." attitude... Which is always stupidity embodied and used as an excuse to treat other people badly.

just imagine if you were at work and the people who paid your wages started booing you or sarcasticly cheering whilst you were working you would be proper pissed off and rightly so. would you then think i will try harder for these wonderful people or more likely would you think fuck em tossers and generally loose all interest in your job. Im not saying we need to cheer everything we do and dont show our displeasure but to much booing is only going to have a negative effect on the players.

Agreed it has nothing to do with this thread, so why bring it up?

Back on topic... don't boo your own players during the match, its self destructive !

Skybluesham, the difference is that most of us don't make such a mess of our jobs like those in sky blue. If I was consistently performing like them, I'd expect a sight more than booing. Stop making excuses for them.

Just want to make sure I've got this right.....

Are you saying that it is your considered opinion that the players will perform better, the more we boo them?

Motivation can be via the carrot and/or the stick. Some booing may just give some players the kick up the arse they need. In the end lets not be too delicate with them, they are professionals, paid very well and need to to do their job. We are but paying customers, overpaying for their excuse of 'entertainment'...
