Back in the day I seem to recall Bobby McDonald, Terry Yorath and Ian Wallace signing together. Would be difficult to beat such an impactful combination of signings as that!

Include John Craven joining at the same time. All three were lodging together at the Allesley hotel where I was working at the time. Quite a bit of late night revelry from Hutch and Steeno but not so much from (the late) John C.

I don’t know if it was the same day but to great fanfare we bought Garry Collier and Dave Jones for the 1979 80 season. Fee was around £600k
