Who makes it in the Prem? (30 Viewers)

For me it’s about getting the spine right. I’m not sure Rudi makes the cut on recent form but maybe if he gets back to last seasons form. Wright I think is more likely but feel we need a proper spine of quality at DM CB GK and ST that we’re lacking. Rushworth maybe bar his distribution, if Brighton let him go.

It’s going to be really hard to tell until we see. There’s arguments against all those mentioned and ultimately why they’re with us and not a PL team offering triple the wages.

Yeah absolutely. I think it’s really hard to tell because the games will be so different so we don’t quite know who will make the step up.

Currently we get so much time on the ball which won’t be afforded. We would probably have to become a low block counter attacking team focusing on real pace on the wings and size and physicality at the back.

His physical presence alone , always think back to kieran mckenna saying the main reason they weny down so easily was because they had no physicality

Thomas , EMC , Rudi , Mve amd wright will all get a chnace im sure
I'd agree with that.

We have to be realistic we wont be able to buy a whole new squad

Which is another reason I think Thomas will be starting. 6ft4, got some pace and had the physicality for it. I just think it will suit his game

I’m getting carried away with myself so wanted to revisit this topic.

For me, those who would make it and what we would need:

Rushworth (if Brighton would sell)
MVE - Thomas - LCB - LB
Onyeka - DM
RW - Rudi - Mason-Clark
ST

Dovin
Lati
LCB/LB
KKH
Grimes
Torp
AM/LW/RW
BTA
Wright

Wilson
Kitching
Dasilva
Eccles
Sakamoto
Markelo

Would need 8 signings (inc Rushworth) of real quality to have a chance of staying up. I’d say you’d be looking at players around the £20m mark so you’d hope we’d be spending north of £100m.

It would be nice to get some more experienced players who still have real quality. The likes of Chillwell we have been linked to where there is a genuine possibility.

Obviously all fantasy at the minute but would be good to get others thoughts?
Don't do this again please.we haven't learned anything.

Keep

Rushworth
Dovin
Thomas
Kithcing
Woolfenden
JDS
Mve
Kkh
Grimes
Torp
Rudoni
EMC
Saka
Wright

Sell

Allen
Bidwell
Rapha
Wilson
Collins
Lati
Brau

Maybes

Eccles
Simms
Bta
Andrews

The keeps list won't be starting 11 anymore all of them. So opens up a good 7-8 slots for new transfers which could transform us in terms of quality

But personally I think we have a good core to keep to help pad out a decent squad
I still stand by most of this tbh

Eccles has earnt himself a place in premier squad though so remove him from maybes

Simms meanwhile needs to go into so add him to the out list

Bta and Woolf in the maybes section

I think. We have a good set of players to add top quality too.

I mean if torp and saka just for example become rotation pieces you know you are in a good place.

I don’t see any scenario Woolfenden is with us next year

We have 5 positions to fill next year. Goalkeeper hopefully Rushworth. Left back loads of noise around Chilwell. Centre Back, Centre Midfield and a wide players who can play Left or right maybe Esse. Then we will see who else gets improved

Money will get swallowed up so easily with Prem level signings. We'll be signing Onyeka for £8 million and would probably have to get close to £15 million for Rushworth, so thats £23 million just to stay as we are! I would guess we'll make about 8 signings.

I think stability has been a cornerstone of our success over the last few years.
Only 2 managers and a stable squad of players.

I'd like to see us try and maintain that stability as much as possible. I know some people will be stay up at all costs. But I've not got a problem with becoming a parachute team for a season or 2 until we can finally get a foothold.

How does it work with PSR?

I agree. We can certainly give it a go in a sustainable way. We just have to be clever with loans, and free agents where possible.

Looking at the players who will be available for free in the summer theres a lot of opportunity there.

Sunderland have done well by signing a talismanic sort of player-with him out of the team the rest of the players have been so-so. Identifying someone like that to play either CM or CB may well allow you to not have to turn so much of the squad over.

I would imagine we'll also owe a fair amount in add-ons for existing players as well in the event we do go up. EMC, Wright, MVE, Simms etc.

Said it before but no one would have had Eccles and Allen and Wilson being the ones still with us from L1 when we came up. Some players might step up we don’t expect, some we expect might not step up.

Pace is the one thing I wonder if it’ll hold EMC back but he’s definitely PL physicality otherwise. I don’t think we’ll be able to afford to turn us into a technical squad so will be interesting to see who we get in. That beast of a lad from the states who was rumoured at ST looks like the right sort of player.

If its between us and Boro it might be a good thing if they get caught...

He’s absolutely jacked and can do millions of step overs, he’s got every chance!

Yeah. I think he could be the next James Bond.

Well he seems to want to fight the world!

Truthfully, I don't think EMC is anywhere near good enough for the Prem. Not quick enough or tricky enough, and very one footed. I can't see top class defenders being much bothered by him.

That said, I'd be delighted if he proved me wrong. Certainly wouldn't be the first time!

Agree with that, I’d add Onyeka, Rushworth (if he stayed) and at a push maybe even Torp. The way we’ll need to play in the Prem will be totally different to what we’ve seen this season. Players like Simms, Sakamoto and BTA could surprise people. My criticism of Sakamoto as an offensive threat stand, but because we’ll probably have 25-40% possession most games, we need to build a team that is good off the ball so there will be a niche role him.

That’s a decent group to take up to the Prem but no one is going to kid ourselves into believing that it’s a huge undertaking to stay up next season should we finish the job.
