Who Else Is Nervous? (12 Viewers)

Can’t get nervous about something you can’t influence… I’m just glad the fuckers back

And if we lose it doesn’t matter - we lost more than 1/3 of our matches last season and made it

No - its just a football game. We will lose somewhere between 10-20 games this season. If we get mauled by the tigers so be it, weve all seen much, much worse. I just try to enjoy each game (easier said than done) and am happy with us being stable and competetive.

That said we are long overdue our time in the sun.

He made one error. Apart from that he has been excellent
He's done the same move several times in both games but got away with it. If he keeps doing the same thing it will happen again.

You'd think that's something that's pretty easily solved by the coaching staff just saying if in doubt whack it but not sure anyone has much confidence in the goalkeeping coaches.

He's has hardly been coached by us at all so far and came with the reputation of being good with his feet.

So I suspect it is part of his style of play.

You have going to the dentist nervous and you have splash mountain in Disneyland nervous, both are going into the unknown especially if you are an eight year old kid and your dentist is in Gosford green and is in his sixties with shaking hands but is a family friend so you can't change. Excitement vs scary nervous?
I'm old now so avoid both and watching city honestly scares the crap out of me, I have always been a radio person so on a Saturday I will tune in and listen and avoid the last 10-15 minutes of the game and turn back on 10-15 minutes after the game and listen to the FL interview.

Hull will tell us a lot I think. At Stoke last season it felt like the players had bought into the hype we were getting and thought that just going through the motions would get the win. I’d hope we start quickly, have more than one route to goal and have every player looking hungry to secure their place in the team. It’s a game we should be winning if we’re a serious playoff contender.

Cannot be arsed spending another September/October flirting with the relegation zone either.

Hope I'm wrong but I think a nervous draw is on the cards (followed by the inevitable forum meltdown).

I'd agree with your challenge on the last 12 games, Rudoni is brilliant but he went missing in the play offs, and like you say we rarely saw the best of him away from home.

He will play in PL at some point.
But for awkward bounces of the ball right in front of goal in the second game Rudoni would have scored. He did score in the first play off match.
What went missing was our luck.

We are going to be fine , even if/when MvE goes we still have a very competitive squad .
Lampard and the recruitment team know we need a centre back and I can see us buying a young right back to compete / back up to KKH .
Still think there will be 1-2 players leaving permanently before the end of August and replacements will already be being found.
Will be interesting to see how we utilise the loan market and what areas we target .

All in all the squad is in a good place and will be strengthened further before the window closes

, expect us to carry on where we left off, we won’t be pretty to watch, hard to beat at home and hopefully we find a way to pick up more points away, top 6 at least

Is it me or does FL seem more twitchy & nervous in the last couple of after-match interviews by the way?

The least excited I’ve felt for a season since the 16/17 season. I’m probably one of the few but it feels like with Robins and AV gone, the dream and the journey has gone. Even after losing in the FA Cup Semi, I couldn’t wait for the next season.

None of the signings (or outgoings!) this summer have given me any excitement and we still look as impotent as a eunuch upfront.

I haven’t caught the Lampard buzz either. It feels like some of our fans get excited because of his name from when he was a player… but it’s like dating the fittest girl from your school - 20 years on and now she’s got 4 kids and put on 10 stone.

I don’t get the excitement for a play off spot either after Luton and Sunderland and we definitely don’t have the attacking power for the top 2.

Really hope the enthusiasm comes back and we have a good season, just not feeling the excitement like I did since our rise from League 2.

Agree with a lot of this. Feels like the first year we haven’t moved forwards as a squad for a long time. Team still doesn’t look particularly cohesive even after a pre season. Signings are all a bit meh, any excitement for Rushworth went with his Collins impression. KKH is a downgrade on MvE and MvE was the last player with any personality left. Brau isn’t even a starter. Can’t see past a stuttering season and upper mid table at best this year, we seem a million miles from promotion any time soon. We aren’t getting big fees for our players and are relying on £4-5m signings as we seem to have stopped being able to pick up bargains. Add in the stadium nonsense rearing its head again and let’s just say I hope either the football starts and proves me wrong or we’re about to have the busiest month in transfer history.

Not nervous but underwhelmed.

We haven’t done anything in the transfer window yet to move the dial. Think we’ll be competitive but at the moment I’m feeling mid table.

Being pragmatic I understand the one in one out policy but even with some movement over the next few weeks I feel signing top players and integrating them will be hard.

Was hoping for a good start this season but feel we’ll be trying to play our way into form.

You mean like integrating Grimes was hard?
good players are good players and will adapt

Absolutely but it will take time. We have a new rb and gk starting then Brau to get up to speed at left back. We’re all hoping on a new CB then hopefully ST , RW cover and CM if one goes.

If we sell MVE and Rudoni we would receive about the same money we did for Gyokeres and Hamer. Look what we have built with that. We already have a replacement for MVE. If MVE leaves it will be with thanks for his efforts and memories and also best wishes for the future. It would also give us the funds to make us a stronger squad.

Would love to keep Rudoni. He was an absolute beast in the last 12 games but everyone has their price. I would guess we have him for another season unless we get promoted this season.
We sold Gyokeres and Hamer, and we've never reached a play off final since!

I'd hardly call that a successful rebuild.
Especially when we spent some of the money on Collins, Simms, BTA, and Lats.

The thread is about how you feel for the season and if that’s nervous. The answer is badly underwhelmed and the transfer window has done very little to cause excitement. A couple of miserable performances in preseason hasn’t helped either.

Only real highlight in the offs season has been how many STs we have sold, which is incredible for us.

This is the first start of a season without Robins or AV since 2016 and it genuinely feels underwhelming compared to the wave we have been on and incredible heights achieved.

If you want pure sweetness and light, find a my little pony forum.

‘You’re fun at parties’ is a dogshit, middle aged man’s line anyway.

Same for me, all feels a bit meh. Could do with a nice strong start to get the excitement up.

I think in all honesty with shit owners and Robins taking us up from rock bottom we had both something to fight against and seemingly never ending progression. It almost seemed inevitable that Robins would lead us to the promised land.

Feels like the form we had to get us in the play offs has left some people a bit blind to any issues. Certainly felt we'd got to a point where we'd been found out and clubs had an established tactic against us that worked. My fear is we haven't worked out how to counter that and it will become an increasing problem. What we don't need is a slow start while Lampard works out how to adjust our style of play, that's just a repeat of the last few years.

Still can't shake the feeling there's a suckerpunch to come, either an unexpected departure before the window closes or even worse our seemingly annual injury to a key player.

I can easily see us just bobbling away in mid table most of the season but hopefully I'm wrong and we get off to a flyer and stay in the top 6 all year.

Not nervous, just not expecting anything amazing. Think we are currently primed to finish around 8th-11th.

I think we will sign a couple more, but it will just be loans.

Never nervous-always buzzing!

Cant wait for the new season to start full of optimism but with a huge dose of realism.

Even in the dark days was exactly the same.

Ups and downs still support the club-it’s football init.
