I want us to be playing in Europe in the next 5 years, ambitious yes, not impossible though. I've never watched England abroad, I've always held out hope that one day the mighty Sky Blues will get there!
There's a good chance that not a lot will happen until after the World Cup. I would guess that some of our targets at least will be players like Onyeka who have been replaced by more expensive players. This means we might have to gamble and leave it late.
Also nothing will happen until after season has ended. So yes we have a 3 week advantage on 1 club.
It may not feel the same, but 17th in year 1 would be as big an achievement as getting up this season. If we can achieve that, then three more clubs coming up behind us the next season who would automatically become favourites to go down instead of us. The first hurdle is huge.

Would gladly take survival next season, then as we have done for the past years, a year on year improvement until we cement our place in the league and move towards a good cup run or aim towards a European place.
If and a big if, we are doing ok in the league, I can see Doug wanting us to challenge in the Cups.
It's doable to stay in PL for a club our size. Look at the likes of Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth maybe Palace. It's about stable ownership, having good football execs who can identify managers & players. Don't think any of these spent silly money getting established in PL - maybe spending a bit more as they've brought in good transfer income as they have found & developed players that were sold on

Enjoyed the philosophical musings of our Chairman when responding to Lampard speculation. King seems to have his head screwed on and realistic about it all. He doesn’t intend to bust the club which is paramount, he says we need to try and compete using a shrewd approach and he’s right. Clever signings are going to be the aim and hopefully maintain that fantastic team spirit. Our home support could help too as long as people maintain a never say die attitude .
