Bottom three if I'm honest

But I'm happy to be proved wrong with some very cute and clever signings that we may never have heard of

why do you think that?

Over the last 15 seasons the Championship winner has then survived the first Prem season on 9 occasions

Depends what we spend.

FL has access to a number of top managers including his uncle, who will give him advice. I have mentioned on another thread what is needed to stay up, but I think two other factors are necessary. 1) The coaching team are prepared to rotate systems to match the opponent, I know people will say that's obvious but it doesn't happen. The playing out from the back maybe okay against a Sunderland but not against Man City. 2) More importantly, the fans and their mindset. If we are promoted, we go from a winning mentality to one of lowering our expectation. We need to support the team even we get beat 4-0, that for me is important.

I'm expecting us to finish bottom and not winning very many, like Wolves this season. I am just going to enjoy it for what it is and if we avoid relegation then bonus.

If we get relegated, then we can go again in the championship with parachute payments and build from there with a high chance of play offs with them being 3rd-8th from next season.

Obviously would love to stay in the prem but also Yo-Yoing wouldnt be the end of the world.

Who’d have thought Leeds and Burnley would struggle a lot more than Sunderland have?
It depends who comes up. If it’s Boro, Milwall Derby or Hull I’d back them to spend similarly to us and fancy us to finish above them. Wrexham and possibly Ipswich would throw more money at it.

Because year on the year the gap is getting bigger and I just think Doug King will be relatively frugal when it comes to signing new players

We will pretty much need a new starting 11 and I just don't think we will splash the cash as much as we need to

Of course I'm happy to be proved wrong and I want to be!

I think we will be relegated.

Anything other than that, even if it's by merely a whisker, would be a huge achievement

4th bottom with 12 points.

They'll come from the two teams we're promoted with and then a 100 point deduction for Man City.

Assuming we sign Rushowrth, I think him, MVE. Thomas, Grimes, Onyeka and any of the forward options can perform. We'll need a new CB & LB plus a sprinkling of PL experience and a couple of high calibre young loans. Get that and staying up is a real possibility imo, but don't break the bank and if we go down, then we are stronger and set up for years ahead.

See no reason we can't go on improving with a few additional signings and do what Sunderland have done quite easily.

Certainly not easily. It goes against all the metrics of any other promoted sides in the past decade and they spent in excess of £160m. You could do that and still be relegated. Honestly 17th would be amazing.

When we got promoted to the Championship, iirc, 17th was quite a popular selection then. Shows how far we've come in a relatively short space of time!

Haji Wright scores 20 in the WC as the U.S. storms to victory in front of whooping and high fiving fans. We sell the world's newly crowned best striker to a Saudi club for £1 billion after Doug negotiates it up from an initial £10 million. The recruitment team is given free reign and signs the world's best under 25 players in positions 1-11. We dominate British, European and World football for the next 25 years. Easy work.

If we can keep Rushworth, or bring in another GK just as good I would fancy our chances of 17th or higher. We're going to lose a lot of games but so will others.

We have about half a squad worth keeping. Hopefully the main characters are kept like MVE and the squad stays close like now.

Without having a clue what our squad will look like I trust Lampard to at least make us competitive near the bottom. 17th for now but changeable depending on players coming/going

Its anyone's guess isn't it....... Recruitment is a gamble, even if the players we sign look brilliant on paper there's no guarantee they will all gel and translate into good results. Equally me may do a Sunderland and hit the ground running.

Momentum counts for a lot too, if we go up as champions and can maintain that buzz about the team, add quality without disrupting the spine of the squad there's no reason we can't stay up.

Im just buzzing to get back to last day wins needed to stay up, like the good old days 30 years ago!!!

My early prediction is we win last day to send Sunderland down and we stay up along with us having a delayed kick off of course!

Who knows, as is we'd do well to even put up a fight. But we don't even know who the other teams promoted would be yet, if it's other lower budget teams then we have a better chance... If it's Wrexham, Ipswich or Southampton we are going to be going in with the least to offer potential new players. It'll be a huge struggle

Get promotion sorted first and you can start serious negotiations ahead of those clubs at least.
