What would you be happy with? (1 Viewer)

4 weeks left - what is the minimum number of signings (& their positions) needed to make you happy with the window? I'll start...

2 signings - CB & RW
I'd agree that would be minimum to have a reasonably balanced squad.

Ideally would also add a striker and a ball-carrying ACM as well, but those will only happen if someone goes out first.

One CB and a proper centre forward, none of this plays off the left or runs a lot crap, someone in the box at all times and has aspirations to get the golden boot!

MVE goes for £10 million ISH. Bassette goes on loan to sort his attitude out, Collins loaned to a league one side possibly.

Then a top CB, followed by a winger who can play anywhere in the attacking areas.

Striker with a good header goal threat and isn't injury prone.

We need a centre back to replace Binks. I’m happy with full backs and the midfield. I also think our strikers are good. Wright is excellent and Simms is an able back up, Asante a good option off the bench. I wouldn’t be that annoyed if we didn’t buy anyone else.

The desperation for ‘signings’ every window at every club always baffles me.

Yes we did. But teams are making improvements around us, the league this year is much more competitive. We have to improve as well.
We are improving.

We don’t know yet whether it will be tougher or not.

leicester and ipsw are likely to get points deductions, Birm and Wrexham need to adjust to the league etc

I didn’t say we weren’t but we need a bit more in my opinion. And I think we will get a few more.

I think a quality CB like Doyle and a striker, offer Wycombe cash plus Bassette on loan for the year, a bonus would be a creative no 10 that can cover Rudi so he don't get burnt out or gets an injury, hopefully Rapha will come good this year so that might cover that position.

The postion of urgency is CB then Striker.

I mentioned on another thread that I found Oggy's comments yesterday interesting but I am probably over thinking it, whilst admitting there needed to be some departures first, he said he said he wouldn't be surprised (or words similar) to see 3 new players in to spice things up. Surely we will see a couple of departures loan wise but if we don't sell MVE then I would say that he KKH and Saka would cover the RHS possibly with Raphael being the cover player. its the LHS though that seems far less settled. We have plenty of full backs but we absolutely need a new LCB as everybody is suggesting. Beyond that who knows but a Striker and or another attacking Midfielder would be my guess. I keep thinking every morning we might see some activity but we don't !!!

We aren't signing another striker with 4-5 already on the books . Granted it looks like Bassette and Obikwu will leave on loan but that still leaves 3 players for the single striker role

I’d be happy with what we’ve got when the season starts. Should be enough to keep us up there and we can then address any shortcomings in January.

I'm already happy. I just don't understand those making out we're weaker and other sides are stronger. We've added to our side that got the 4th most points in the Championship from when Lampard took over. And Lampard has said he is still looking for reinforcements. I trust his judgement over those who say we don't need cover in a certain position.

This could change of course if we sell any of our top players. But we won't sell anyone cheaply so would have the money to strengthen again.

A settled squad of players who know each others strengths and weaknesses and have played together a lot will go a long way at the start of the season imo.

Been saying the same. It's as though many don't get this or are only looking for negatives and totally ignore all the positives.

It's threads like this that get brought up during the season. They always raise a smile or more. Yet I'm still happy to put my prediction of 2nd to 4th on it because It's where I honestly think we will finish with some even putting us as low as mid table. Nearly as funny as those who think Wrexham will end up in the playoffs.

With Binks gone we're short of CBs, but I expect he wouldn't have been alowed to leave without a replacement lined up so I think we'll see one arrive before the window shuts.
what was wrong with Jamie Allen;s cameo at CB yesterday,, Surely the shortest centre back in any team over the age of 10 ever

I feel like this is a certainty and as I've said before about us nearly signing Matondo in Jan, I'm pretty certain we'll get a wide player. Those would be the 2 nailed ons for me. You know what I think of our CFs and I'm sure Lampard is fully aware of how mediocre they are, but we'll have to move someone out to get an in there.
