Just watched that. Gibson was a moaning little fucker wasn't he ? But what a player1-0 v Sheff Weds, October 84. Terry Gibson scored, Oggy saved a penalty. My dad bought me the home shirt before the game and I don't think I took it off for a week. Completely hooked.
I think that was Cyrille Regis' debut1-0 v Sheff Weds, October 84. Terry Gibson scored, Oggy saved a penalty. My dad bought me the home shirt before the game and I don't think I took it off for a week. Completely hooked.
Same first game for me, with my grandad who was from South Shields and a lapsed Sunderland fan. It was a month before my 8th birthday, Stretto Boy, so are you enjoying your 70th birthday year???? The 60’s what a great time to be growing up in Coventry - ‘city of skills and opportunities’!This was my first match, against Sunderland in the Fifth round of the F.A. Cup in March 1963, the month after my eighth birthday.

Pretty sure it wasn't but it was one of his first games.I think that was Cyrille Regis' debut
I had the exact opposite, my first game was Cov 0-3 Villa in September 1995. Savo Milosevic scored twice, with Dwight Yorke having put them into the lead in the first minute.Cov 3-0 Villa! Dec 1992. Quinn 2 and Rosario! Couldn’t have picked a more perfect first match!
David Armstrong, presumably.1983 0r 84 against Southampton I was in the west end with my Dad and brother caught the ball and threw it to a bald Southampton player
Think it's prounounced staunshunThe first game I can recall going to was one against Everton in the late 1970’s but can’t remember which year.
The first game I can remember attending and the result was the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace when Clive Allen hit the stanchion of the goal from a free kick and the goal wasn’t given.
Great days!!9th March 1963 City 4 QPR 1 Terry Bly hattrick and Yogi Barr. Humphries missed a penalty. Stuart
Leary for them.
I went to Anfield for the original game. A coach load of us went from Morris Engines where we worked. I remember being in the Kemlin Rd end, and city fans were louder than the Kop! Great games! We drew (obviously), and, as you rightly say, lost in the replay at HR.Tuesday 20th December 1977
League Cup replay v Liverpool, lost 0-2.
I've just checked and you are right, Cyrille made his debut 2 weeks before in home game against Newcastle. The game against Sheff Wed was the 1st time I saw Cyrille play for usPretty sure it wasn't but it was one of his first games.
I think it was notable for being Lloyd McGrath's home debut, which came about 6 months after his full debut at The Dell where we lost 8-2!
And we got a good kicking if I remember rightly.I went to Anfield for the original game. A coach load of us went from Morris Engines where we worked. I remember being in the Kemlin Rd end, and city fans were louder than the Kop! Great games! We drew (obviously), and, as you rightly say, lost in the replay at HR.
Happy days!
An Epic night that one and Tommy Hutch had the winner disallowed for something,a headed goal,a rare one.I went to Anfield for the original game. Yes that was himDavid Armstrong, presumably.
A proper tufty, you don't see footballers (or men under 60) who look like him anymore.
I remember all of these well as these were the years i started going regularly and really getting into it. I have a near photographic memory of the 99/00 season, some of the home performances were fantastic and thinking about it, it was as good as it got for me as a City fan, which is kind of sad, and also the 00/01 relegation season which was just dire. Fabian Wilnis scored the late winner for Ipswich, i knew we were fucked. It would’ve been one of these. I used to write little match reports. Amazing that I didn’t end up in a career in sports journalism with writing as good as “No.10 McAllister sneaked a sneaky goal home”

When I first started going with my uncle I held an imaginary microphone and did radio style commentary during games. Would certainly have been a vlogger if the tech had existedI remember all of these well as these were the years i starting going regularly and really getting into it. It's never too late! When I first started going with my uncle I held an imaginary microphone and did radio style commentary during games. Would certainly have been a vlogger if the tech had existed
My first game as well!My first game was one of the great escapes on 26/05/85. The final game of the season vs Everton who were champions. We needed to win our last 3 games to stay up.
Funny you mention Hutch and headed goals seen some old footage last night a he headed a great goal in that .The only thing was it was he was playing for Man City and it was in his own netAn Epic night that one and Tommy Hutch had the winner disallowed for something,a headed goal,a rare one.
