I see nothing wrong with saying we should aim for promotion.

In reality though it will be very difficult. But I think the general apathy at the moment is doing the players we do have a disservice.

exactly

me saying we should aim for promotion is based on us adding 3-4 good signigns to what we have, then i think we have a chance

if i had to predict id go with mid table but relegation is a no no in my book unless we sell off the squad which i dont see happening.

agree with your last sentence 100%

i cant see the sarcasm int hat, seems he genuinly thinks we did well at home alst year

also its unfair to say look where would finish with 10pts extra, admin killed the season and there was nothing else left to play for

but isnt astute the same guy who said jennings is like gerrard? not sure i can agree with you on your analysis of squad.

Hat is sarcasm.......isn't it? :thinking about:

So our home games could be away games. this makes our away games the same as our home games.....just further away than our home games although we could have away games closer to home than our home games.......are you still following? :thinking about:

What my lad said was he keeps it easy with short passes in the middle. The problem was so did others. So we didn't move forward like we should. When we were moving forward the work he did was appreciated by our fans. So I said he was a world class player now

You said we wouldn't have been mid table without 10 points taken away. Then when you checked the point you blame it on being in admin. Wasn't that why we lost the 10 points? :thinking about:

Straight comment now. It looks like we have lost experienced players. They will be replaced by kids without experience. We don't know where we will be playing our home games yet. If away from Cov how many will we take with us on a raining Tues evening? It will be like playing away all season. How many fans will go to these 'home games'? We are in an embargo. We don't know how long for. Will all of our targets already have signed for another club by the time we can sign anyone? Will we sign who we need when embargo is lifted? We won't be paying transfer fees so who is available for free? Will Elvis be any good as a manager in England? Will he be any good as a manager anywhere?

That is just a few questions off the top of my head. We can have a laugh. We can have a joke. But when we are being serious and look at the facts nothing tells me we will have a successful season. My glass has always been half full. If we don't have a good start my glass will be fully empty.

all your predictions are based on worst case scenarios, all i ever said was that we have 7-8 good players to start and with our youngsters or new signigns we could still aim to do well, certainly not relegation. if you disagree thats fine but dont do it on what ifs.

but if you truly dont think admin effectively killed the season there's not much point carrying on this convo mate.

It could be August before we get the chance to start making signings. By that point a good number of targets capable of improving the squad will have gone and our budget will be pitiful. More to the point we will have lost a pre-season which means any signings will have to bed in as the season progresses.

You also have to wonder who on Earth would want to join a club with such overwhelming off field issues when better offers will be on the table. If the groundshare proceeds the club is sealing a humiliating relegation.

I agree. At the same time of the ground share announcement, do a pre sell of next years "league two on tour" t-shirts

It takes more than 11 players to compete through a whole season though. The squad as it stands is weak but if well managed should be bottom half. If we stay at the Ricoh we should be OK but I wouldn't expect miracles.

Leon Clarke getting injured killed the season not the 10 point deduction

Sorry I misread one of your posts when you said we have 7-8 good players, and that we only need to make 3-4 good signings....not sure that warrants being called an outright liar...

I wouldn't put us down for relegation but I also don't think 3-4 signings will make us promotion hopefuls.

What predictions have I made?

I have predicted we will play at the Ricoh next season. Is that the worse case scenario? That is the only prediction I have made

The rest are not what if's but something that any logical thinking fan wouldn't bet against. I have not said anywhere I think we will get relegated. But if things don't change quickly we could be in trouble. If we sign just 3 players we will be in a bit of trouble when the injuries start.

You say our season ended on a poor finish when we went into admin. I say our season finished when Clarke got injured. If we don't sign another decent striker it will happen again if he gets injured at any time of the season.

Don't think we are in any position to make predictions at the moment. Far too many if's, but's and maybe's.

No signings, no kit, no ground and uncertainty over whether any more points are to be deducted.

I say we shouldn't get relegated. But with such a small squad of experienced players and a manager that hasn't had a good time at our club so far don't fill me with confidence.

Nobody can say we won't get relegated. If Clarke don't get sold and stays injury free all season then we could do well.

yeh so all things as they are CURRENTLY points no relegation, thats all i am saying!

you need to drop the weird pressley hate btw, its silly when hes only been in charge for like 6 games and most them whilst we have been in admin as you said without top striker.

Our first choice team is OK but there's virtually no depth beyond it and we need more than just kids to fill it.

Elvis hate? :thinking about:

I said we have not seen anything to fill me with hope. Poor end to the season. You said it was because of admin and losing 10 points. He couldn't rally the troops over 6 games. We have players under contract. He don't want them. So he separates them from the rest of the squad. This is when not knowing if he can sign players before the start of the season.

These are all facts. There is no hate here. The fans at his last club wanted rid of him. I am struggling to find any positives. I just hope I am wrong.

We've still got some very good players for this level, but depth is the worry. Christie, Adams, Clarke, Murphy, Baker and Fleck are all top half, if not top 6, players in my opinion.

I beg to differ, if the club starts in admin as they are CURRENTLY then there will be a points deduction & consequently a high chance of relegation.

And 2 injuries will screw the spine of that 1/2 team, assuming they are stay at CCFC for the whole season that is & who could blame any of them for leaving.

The players are mostly kids or journeymen. Morale will be rock bottom. Looking at the videos of training Leon Clarke looks miserable as hell. He generally stays at clubs about a year so expect him Baker, Christie and possibly Murphy to move on if a nominal fee is offered, in this or the January transfer window.
Our squad is wafer thin, our club is a joke and nobody gives a rat's arse what ordinary fans like us think.
Time for bed. Work is crap too.

What some seem to be forgetting on here when they keep referring to how close we were to the top 6 last season:
1. We never, not once, actually made it into the top 6
2. When we "got close" to the top 6, it was because we had played 3 to 5 games more than those around and below us.

Once the other teams started playing those games in hand, we dropped like a stone. So please stop misrepresenting what we actually achieved last season.
Adding back the 10 point deduction would have gained us two places only, from 15th to 13th - still bottom half.
The team that you quote above is in fact a significantly weaker team under unproven management than we had last season when we finished in the bottom half of the table.
We will be in administration for at least another two months so will not be able to bring in anyone new either during pre-season or at the very earliest the next time the transfer window opens up after the start of the season, so we will be starting with what we have got now (assuming of course that our greedy owners do not accept any offers for Clarke, Baker, Murphy etc.).
We will be playing in Northampton in front of very small crowds with a significant portion of the team made up with lightweight kids in a very physical league. I could go on, but why bother.
So, given the above, and taking the sky blue spectacles off, what on Earth is there about our position that makes you think we are going to be pushing for promotion rather than fighting a relegation battle?
