Last heard reporting on the Villa games for BBC. Didn't he also fall in love with the Ice hockey?

who remembers him pulling all the wires out when he was commentating on our cup win at the villa, when Moldovan scored he jumped up he accidently pulled the wires out we and we had no commentary for last 10 mins or so.

If you ever go to the football museum in Manchester, there's a bit where you can listen to that commentary.

I worked with Rob when I was at CWR many years ago. He is a true Sky Blue Nut! He loves the City and I'm sure he would come back if asked but obviously, he has made strides in his career so he would want to come back on his higher terms. I'd still have him back any day!

anyone got a link to that commentary? The birmingham commercial 1152 station commentary was genius that day.

Gurney was a quality and thoughtful commentator, he also knew how to listen.
Unlike Linnell who is a complete crapper.

On the radio now. Send Linell to cover the Walsall commentary!

Now people complain about lack of objectivity with the BBC and Linnell, etc. Gurney was just as bad in his own way, so biased towards CCFC that it was embarrassing. And yes, we're City fans, etc but I think Eakin is much better as he's more objective.

I don't mind being in a tiny minority.

You're getting increasingly bizarre in your responses. Take a rest dear being in a tiny minority is obviously getting to you.

Rob Gurney was reporting on Cov Walsall for WM today and described Dean Smith as the Ginger Mourinho. He has been listening to far too much Yam Yam.

No! In his mind he's saying 'GOD I HATE MY JOB! CAN'T SOMEONE ELSE DO THIS MATCH SO THAT I DON'T HAVE PRETEND TO CHEER EVERYTIME WALSALL SCORE?'
