So which would you choose?

I would choose winning the FA Cup. I have always had a soft spot for the FA Cup as most of my best memories have come from FA cup games!

FA cup - as that would put us in the Europa League - which requires a Cat 4 Ground - which sixfields is not

Promotion as it's more within our grasp. However, I'll go for both!

I'd prefer winning the FA Cup as for a previously stated reason it means no more Sixfields :)

FA cup no brainer.
Its once in a lifetime stuff promotion from league one from a club our size should be achievable 8 out of 10 years.

Football is about winning. As we can't win league 1 this year I would take the FA Cup, it would stay on record forever.

However, our only realistic chance of success is promotion via play offs....so that is what I would concentrate on.

For some of our younger fans the trip to Arsenal will demonstrate the huge gap between League 1 and Premiership football.

Yes, it's about winning. But you don't have to win League One to get promotion, do you?

Head say's league and heart say's FA Cup. It would give us the chance to have at least one game in Europe that we missed after 1987.

FA cup all day. Europe would be brilliant. The only taste I've had so far is the Copa Ibiza a few years ago.

FA Cup. We'd be favourites for promotion next season in this shit league anyway. Third Tier club winning the cup. It'd be mental

Promotion all day long. We need to be playing at higher level. We don't deserve to be after the past few years and are where we are, but a club of our stature shouldn't be League One. I know the fans of Portsmouth, Sheff Weds/Utd, Luton etc will all say the same but I don't care about them. I grew up with the club in the top flight....we need to be as high up the Leagues as possible.

The FA Cup can be great, but ask Portsmouth if they could trade in their FA Cup win for being a league higher....

Promotion in FLC; the FA Cup is a great tournament, but we know that we're not able to fight with the great PL teams... But the playoff competition is on our possibility.

Just asked a Pompey fan and he said he wouldn't swap winning the cup for anything!

I'm actually shocked people are saying the FA Cup. I thought this was a joke question. Ask Birmingham fans if they'd have preferred to win the League Cup a couple of years ago, or stay in the Premier League.

Promotion all day. Cups are a distraction we don't need.

Maybe it's just me, and the fact I can't remember 1987. But I'm even sick to death of hearing about that. It's like your pissed up old uncle going on about a bird he shagged when he was 22.

The question was promotion from League 1 or FA Cup, not relegation from Premier League or winning League Cup. Two very different scenarios.

We are NOT going to win te FA cup, surely thats obvious.

Back to the Ricoh Arena is all that I care about. If promotion helps in that aim, then getting promoted would be good.

As someone just asked a Pompey fan, my office is in Brum and just about all of them said they would take the League Cup win every time but even more so if it was the FA Cup. They said being a club like Blues is likely to end up in promotion and relegation but will never replace one special day at Wembley that will live in the memory forever.

Well, the blues fans are dumber than I give them credit for then.....

...that's the only trophy their club has ever won.....

Winning the FA Cup is winning a major honour.....people outside of the city care & notice....that's the problem with the SKY TV generation of fan....they've been dazzled in to thinking that getting your arse kicked every week in the PL is better than winning a trophy......because at least that way they get to see their team of over-paid foreign mercenaries play at Old Trafford & Anfield (on the telly).....fucking clowns.....

....as I've said before, you can't put the cheque for TV money in an open top bus & drive it around the city....

Exactly. I hereby apologise to the not-quite-so-dumb blues fans who work with The Gentleman.

Granted, different questions, but valid. We'd be in an infinitely better overall scenario with promotion in the long run.

Reading all the other posts we'll have to agree to disagree. Still reeling though!

Without checking who won the cup in 2007? Because I've no idea.

I have put a post on earlier that said winning the FA Cup is unrealistic so we should concentrate on promotion via the play offs. So we aren't polls apart.

I can't believe you would take promotion to the poxy championship over winning the FA Cup.
We could get relegated back following season. Winning the FA Cup is forever and rated as the best domestic Cup competition in the world !!!!!
