What companies in C&W would be affected without ccfc? (1 Viewer)

With all this talk about admin/liquidation would your (or mates/relatives) company be affected?

As a small example;

Does your company supply the match day magazine?

Does your company supply the printers of the match day magazine with paper, ink, staplers etc.?

Can we compile list of companies (or products) which WILL loose out, should ccfc go into admin or liquidation.

All the people who have paid for advertisments in the stadium. If there are no fans to see adverts then the money has been wasted, also having an impact on future orders/ business development.

My employers, Pizza Hut would be hit hard. A few workers would be laid off and I reckon it would be the same for pretty much the same for the surrounding areas. It was absolutely packed before the Crewe game in the JPT, and in fact the surrounding areas are being hit hard because of where we are, less away fans, less home fans who will say, get a Pizza Hut, Subway or Burger King and Tesco's and fewer people would go into Next, M&S and Decathlon etc. etc.

The chippy near the Ricoh is top notch that better not go bust. Large bag and a sausage for £2 ;)

Busses run by ... err ... the council! :)

Casino staff on matchday
Surrounding pubs
Parking eg scrapyard and the car place - I imagine significant part of revenue
Community projects
Local non league sides that we loan players to
Police - we contribute but they would have same budget and staffing levels (paid for also by us in council tax)

Err, no, not the council running the buses nowadays. Must be a good 20 years since they had any involvement with Coventry Transport although they do have representatives who attend important meetings.

Overtime duties for the police. Poor people if they have their 10 hour overtime taken off them,

CWR & Free Radio for their coverage.

The casino at the Ricoh surely is most popular on matchdays/nights.

Programme printers?
Ricoh?

Lets face it, if CCFC left the RICOH, ACL would've shot itself and the city in surrounding area in the foot. If this is where this is going...

Well the company that would suffer the most is ACL despite what they say about being able to survive without the club

Novotel sure some away fans stay overnight there and some fans have a drink in there, then the business next door where we park always full at 2.50 a car

Ff what 10hrs overtime is that then you obviously live in a different world ?

Oh, do they pull resources from everywhere else? Maybe a few on shift, some specials 10 hrs a bit steep but that's what used to happen. You a policeman? Is there a robocop covering the rest of Cov?

Down here Portsmouth Council reckon the football club is worth £300m a year to the local economy. It was looked into as part of the loan offer to their trust. £300m does seem a touch on the high side to say the least but I think the loss of CCFC would have a much bigger impact than many people would expect.

There is no doubt that a loss of ccfc would have a big impact on the local businesses, and in a time with high unemployment it will be devasting for a lot of families.

I'd imagine that away fans in League One do not bring that much to the City over a season, maybe £1 million, this rises significantly in the Championship of course. The biggest loss would be the mobilization of 11,000 City fans every week, when probably a fifth of these come from outside of Coventry itself. I'm not sure about Coventry itself as people would spend money elsewhere in the City but CV6 would suffer badly, particularly the pubs/clubs and casino and all the car parks would die on their arses.

I agree. It's imperative that a deal is struck.

If the worst happens a lot of people will be out of job. Maybe the stadium can set up a soup kitchen? Then it would make sense ACL have a charity as part owners.

Godiva, I think that regardless of how SISU have behaved on this, ALC and the Council are being really short sighted on this. They say they won't sell half the stadium to SISU which in turn makes the club less attractive to other investors. If ACL want SISU out then they will have to concede that there's no other way.

on the reverse side of that I have clients who simply refuse to do business with CCFC any more because of the problems getting paid..........
those clients are still trading ok

Businesses will be affected certainly, but i doubt any of those businesses have put themselves in a position where they are soley reliant on CCFC ...... if they have then they need to take a serious look at what they are doing

The arena shopping park next to the stadium,
Surrounding businesses,
M6 toll rd (if people use it to get to the stadium)
ACL,
The hotel inside,

Need to realise that if the city did get 30k people in during most matches, it will increase the profit of businesses in area of Ricoh arena, more profit means more people willing to hire, reducing unemployment in the city.

reduced unemployement reduces crime, and it all connects.

What everyone fails to see is that 1 successful club in Coventry can make a difference to the whole city. I just wish city council would see this and take the risk and help CCFC become successful

It's everybody's guess if - or how many - businesses will close if the club cease to exist, but it is undeniable that quite a few people will lose their job. Collateral damage?

Of course there will be people losing their jobs if ....... and right now it is still IF........ CCFC folds. In time there might be oportunities for others, or perhaps the club doesnt fold. There might be businesses that are financially better off too, even business that can break their sponsorship deals/partner deals (those wont be cheap)

No one wants CCFC to be gone...... it doesnt suit anyone really ......... but you could look at CCFC as a sponge soaking up millions in cash and spitting it out as players wages that leave the city (bet a lot live outside of Coventry).

There might be a new club or alternatives....... if the club folds I would bet a lot of the players find other employment, the stewards would lose out as would office staff, the shop might be used in a different way and create employment. I do know that Compass are still recruiting staff so there must be some good news

Not saying any of that is right but just keeping an open mind as to the effects if it happens at all. Undoubtedly there will be "casualties" but someones disaster is someone elses oppportunity very often.

We have to go bust first............ that is out of our hands so will wait see what happens
