I think its better that way that nobody knows about just the muso types that know .There loads of gig there and and the Record shop at Fargo this is best era now for Coventry's music since Ska in the 70s and Rave in the late 80s early 90s .Think the Tin has recently received a grant for a bit of a refurb. Its strange it doesn't get promoted more in teh city, most people don't seem to know it exists.
For a city the size of Cov the number of gigs we get is shockingly bad, even now with the Empire, should really be shouting about what we do have.
I bloody loved that 90s raving!I think its better that way that nobody knows about just the muso types that know .There loads of gig there and and the Record shop at Fargo this is best era now for Coventry's music since Ska in the 70s and Rave in the late 80s early 90s .

Yes I’ve been to a few of his gigs. Went to one around the corner from the record shop , at some art shop. Marconi Union to be exact, they’re great.Having one of their tote bags is the CV1 music Illuminati membership card. Joe's gigs are great.
You mean Bedfords very own?Coventry's very own Tom Grennan
I saw Pixies too the other night but only got there 5 mins before they came on, so missed these completely. I’ll try and give them a listen.
Saw these supporting the Pixies last night and have been drawn to their stuff already.

By any chance did you wear a City top to the gig? I saw a bloke wearing one.
One of my favourite cover versions!

All being well I'll be there , with a chilled can of red stripeI go to a lot of gigs at Just Dropped In. Usually the ambient electronic type gigs.
Next there for me is Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan in September.
If you fancy a small detour via Burbage, I can highly recommend Vinyl Shakedown Records. Superb selection, all properly graded, and owner is a really nice guy too.Had to travel to Coventry earlier this week (for my son to sit an exam) and found myself with a couple of hours to spare. Popped into "Just Dropped In" to see what they had in the way of 50s/60s originals without any real expectations of what to expect.
Well...where to start with this absolute gem of a record store?!?!
It is probably as close to perfection as Revolver, Otis Blue, Never Mind The Bo**ocks, or The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill...depending on your musical palate.
Firstly, it's a lovely large, bright space in complete contrast to the average, somewhat cluttered and claustrophobic feel of most record shops carrying the kind of 2nd hand stuff that I collect.
But "Just Dropped In" doesn't just stock 2nd hand; in fact, it strikes the perfect balance between new and old, catering for brand new music, classic limited edition reissues, and a very healthy selection of well preserved originals up to 70 years old!
Add into the mix Gary and Allun, two top blokes who are completely down to earth with fabulous knowledge and a burning passion for what they do.
Even from one visit I can see that they've created not just a great record shop but a real vinyl community. On the afternoon that I dropped in they were preparing for one of their regular sold-out evening concerts (there is a good-sized stage, professional pa system etc) in which 100 or so music fans get to enjoy great live music in an intimate and very special venue.
Shops like this (and there aren't many!) are the lifeblood of real music in the UK and should be cherished. The effort and commitment that goes into creating and maintaining such a comprehensive and perfectly catalogued inventory whilst also arranging launch events and live gigs is more than just commendable. It is inspirational.
"Just Dropped In" cannot be recommended highly enough whatever your taste in music.
