Love the old rickety grounds. The one good thing about when we played in the small town leagues a few years ago.

You think the club are going to release upbeat stuff after today's sad news? It would seem crass and inappropriate surely. Maybe tomorrow.

Worst ground for me was Gillingham! Real shithole of a place! An evening kick off. Took hours to get there, sat with four of us in a bloody Fiat Pinto (or some tiny box!). Got lost on the way back to Cov!

Clubs were told not to by the EFL if they could avoid it, as well as not announcing the tv picks.

Sorry today was bad. At least you will get a day off work tomorrow for Independence Day, 4th of July.

i kid. I kid!

Here’s to hopes that we get news of player signings and a point deduction for Leicester. So many points deducted, that they can’t count the amount on their 6 fingers.

I had an American friend who lives in Thailand contact me this morning asking me why I had not told him during a phone conversation yesterday that " Ronaldo had died ". He obviously knows very little about football although he along with his Thai gf had actually gone to watch the Cov v Blackburn game the season before last on a visit to the UK.

Using a high profile death for a clickbait thread title? A real classy move

I may be lacking empathy here, and although it is sad that Jota has died in a car accident, I'm not sure what that has to do with the EFL. The requirement of the entire footballing world to grind to a halt seems a bit extreme.

Ultimately people die every day, and it's bordering on mourning sickness at this point.

I don't have a problem with it at all. Nothing wrong with showing a bit of respect. No harm will come from not making announcements for one day.

It may not be an EFL thing but it's a football thing. A world class player in his prime who played in England.

And as for we shouldn't show respect because we constantly show respect for nobodies... shouldn't it be the nobodies we ignore?

It’s all a bit weird. Every other time I log into fifa it tells me they’re removing a player who has died. Yet for this one everyone has to stop what they are doing out of respect. This has never been a thing. The only thing that ever been a death everyone stops for is some major tragedy involving lots of people or the queen.

Social media has made it so everyone plays this weird grief one upmanship of “I’m considerably more respectful than yow” same as they do with pedos and “I’m considerably more angry than yow”. It fake. It’s stupid. And the faux outrage at anyone who points out it’s new and over the top is ridiculous.

Same as stupid clapping on the X minute shit for everyone who dies. For gods sake people were British. Get a grip.

I agree on most of this. Didn't the Millwall keeper die last season? Heck Jotas brother just died and he's also a footballer but hardly gets a mention. Seems if it happens to a 'better' footballer it matters more.
I'm not stupid, I get why its bigger news, and all the deaths I've mentioned are sad but I see no reason for anything to stop.

I think it all started with Diana's death and the hysterical mass mourning. people I know going to sign the book of condolences who had never mentioned her once before.

Heck Jotas? Never heard of him. Have we heard of his brother before?

I get what you say. But someone I've never heard of at all against one of the best players in English football? Add to this married just 2 weeks before and 3 young kids as well.

There’s being genuinely shocked and saddened by a death. Then there’s trying really, really hard to be upset and wanting to be noticed - which I’m seeing loads of.

‘Can you record me putting down some flowers?’
