What I love about this video is the fact that all Jimmy has to do is wave and blow kisses to them before they start getting agitated.

Young men trolled by a frail old man. Brilliant.

I'm 19, what's with the beef between us and Sunderland?? Guessing it's something to do with Jimmy Hill but yeah anyone care to shine some light on it?

Spurs and Stoke were already relegated and the third spot was between City, Bristol C and Sunderland all stuck on 34 points with us having the worst goal difference.
The game kicked off 5 minutes late with City and Bristol having to win or hope Sunderland were beaten at Everton.
We were 2-0 up but dragged back to 2-2 with Bristol all over us.
5 minutes from time the news came over that Sunderland were beaten 2-0.
Sunderland reckon JH bribed the ref.

The hutch scored both goals.

Attendance: 36,903 happy people.

Different times then.
The Mackems have been brought up on the myth or possible fact that JH was a master of deception and did them down, whatever the truth if they are real football fans it's time they grew up and realised that Sunderland could be the next club hitting the wall.

As someone who wasn't alive back then, it makes painful reading... Shame really, I did like the club - didn't know the hate spared for us.
That said I can understand why they were pissed off, it's tainted my opinion of Hill anyway.

What exactly do you lot expect from Sunderland supporters exactly ? our good wishes ?

Blame the Big Chinned Twat for the hatred, about 90% of the population hate that prick thanks to his nonsense on MOTD, let alone the 1977 incident

behave pal you ever stop to just think for one moment that on both occasions over the entire course of the season Sunderland were simply not good enough.

but in answer to your question, considering it happened over 30yrs ago i'd have expected that Sunderland fans wouldn't still be so sore... actually laughable

They're also planning to fly a plane overhead at our last home game of the season.

At the end of the 75/76 season, one side from us, Bristol C, and Sunderland could have taken the last relegation slot. We were playing Brizzle, and provided Sunderland lost (or drew, can't remember), and we got the draw, both ourselves and Brizzle would stay up with Sunderland going down. As it got to the last 15 minutes, Sunderland had lost, with our game still at 0-0; the players on the pitch got wind of this and decided to pass the ball amongst themselves for the rest of the game to secure the draw, keeping both teams up but relegating Sunderland in the process.

You're forgetting the fact that Big Chin delayed the Kick off for 15 minutes , therefore giving you an advantage

The Police delayed the kick off, not JH.

Are you seriously trying to say that had kick off not been delayed that you would have stayed up?

In a video posted on your shitty little forum, it said kick off was delayed by 5 minutes, so someone has got their facts wrong. And why the hell are you sad enough to join another teams forum? Surprised you're up this early though job centre doesn't open till 9..

believe me my friend, we do not particularly think 24/7 about CCFC, but we are quite liking the fact the current predicament that the club is in. your close enemies are Villa, Blues, Leicester, I'm sure they laugh about your situation far more than we do.

I actually live in Coventry, the football club is followed by @20% of the population - all the kids are Man Utd or Liverpool fans, yet the club seems to do nothing about increasing the support or encouraging people to go and watch them = Nuneaton Boro are as much involved in the community than CCFC

I live and work in the area my friend

considering you support the mighty sky blues, I've only joined this forum a month or two after yourself = quite reflective of your teams mighty support.

I only joined to try and give you lot some understanding why CCFC aren't particularly liked by Sunderland

If the Sunderland result hadn't been flashed up, Cov and Bristol would not have been passing the ball between themselves for the last 15 minutes would they ? Search on youtube - it was featured on a QED programme years ago

If you hadn't lost to Everton you would have stayed up. If you had lost less than 19 games that season you would have stayed up. All if if if's. Had the score not flashed up the game would probably have still finished as a draw.

Grow a pair of balls and admit that you were not good enough to stay up that year. It was your own fault and no one elses. You don't see us blaming other clubs for our current prediciment do you?

The fact that you've posted 9 times is quite reflective that you don't in fact work and that there is nothing more important in your life at the moment than winding up a group of other team's fans. Get a life and get off our forum.

It's all hypothetical though isn't it - if Maradona hadn't handballed we could have won the world cup, if my aunite had balls she'd be a man etc etc etc

There was a wrong doing by Jimmy Hill which hasn't and never will be forgotten, regardless of whether you or I accept that, hence why there is an element of schadenfreude with CCFC

"When we relegated I put aside 3 bottles of beer to drink when Bristol City and Coventry went down. I'm keeping the third for when Jimmy Hill dies ................ bitter, no it was lager."

Wow 3 bottles of beer... last of the big spenders up there. Hope they start to feel some financial pain soon, also loving how one of them has a Jaguar badge as his avatar while prattling on about how much he hates Coventry.

I think the game was artificially delayed. In fact the score at the Sunderland Everton game was relayed over the tannoy 1-0 to Everton. I don't think the fans realised the game was late but the players must have realised the other game had already finished. To say the game was played out is laughable - neither side made any attempt to get anywhere near the oppositions penalty area.
When the game had finished the announcer came on the tannoy and said - there is a correction for the score in the Everton Sunderland game. Everyone's hearts were in their mouths thinking Sunderland had equalised. Everton 2 Sunderland 0 he said.
Bit sad that it still ellicits such ill feeling but I feel the same about Liverpool fans preventing us appearing in Europe after our FA cup win.

I think my favourite conspiracies on that site are that the Met Police were complicit with delaying the kick-off for the Spurs game in order to secure advantage for us again.

We're an unfancied, crappy football team from the midlands, who wear a washed-out nondescript sky blue hue; not the bloody Illuminati

If they are still bitter after 35 years, do you honestly think explaining the facts to them is going to change their mind? I don't think so.

I refuse to be bitter about anything in life, because I'd only be affecting myself. I haven't got time to worry about what's been and done, I'm too busy trying to enjoy the here and now.

That one really showed how dim they are - the only way we could stay up was if we won and they lost, so how could we gain any tactical advantage by knowing their result??????

is this seriously all because of something 37 years ago or am I missing something?

before my time but it looks like the police delayed the kick off, that being the case what would you expect to happen when the score came through? it's no different these days if there's a game on the last day in injury time when the other scores come in. anyone would do exactly the same thing and at the end of the day it's over the whole season, if you'd have won more games there wouldn't have been an issue.

also strikes me as a bit odd to hold a grudge when you've clearly ended up better off. or do you fans really think we got the better of it and would like to swap places with us now?

It's about 8 minutes in about Coventry

Whatever went on that night wasn't right and just - hence the element of schadenfreude (cheats never prosper etc) This is particularly amongst the older supporters - I'm in my 40's but my old man told me all about it.

There was a video on youtube which showed the match and interviewed Bristol City players afterwards - all smiles (as you would expect) but that has gone now, but it confirmed the whole set up.

Hence the majority of issue is/was with Jimmy Hill, but by association, CCFC will never get any sympathy from Sunderland - even though the current owners have screwed you, and like I have said in other posts, Nuneaton Boro do as much in the community as Coventry to encourage support - and thats a reflection of your owners too
