Think the metro runs along the outside of new st dont it? By the Shakespeare pub and ladbrokesI think you get of at New Street, walk to Moor St and you can get a metro/trin directly to the Hawthorns.

Can use a daytripper if you are getting the train. 6 quid something all day on buses trains and metroMetro is only a couple of quid return as well.
