Lampard is better at getting the results against the dross???? Really????I think if you put on the biggest Mark Robins' hat, he could have turned it around like he always did, and got us to finish 5th.
I don't think he would have got the consistency against mediocre teams to get the 9 wins out of 10 that Lampard got. But he also wouldn't have had the poor 5/6 games Lampard did at the start, and he might have pulled off a couple of big results against better teams that Lampard didn't get.
Who knows!
But we know Robins has precedent for turning things round exactly the same as we have this season, and there's theories he may have not been given the chance to reshuffle the coaching setup after it clearly went wrong over the summer... But we'll probably never know the full story behind that.
I think the biggest material difference between the two is Lampard is more consistent at beating the dross to get those 10 wins in 12, Robins biggest weakness was beating shite teams. Robins biggest strength was getting us to punch up against better teams and get results (Wolves away, Leicester, Leeds, Middlesbrough away, United at Wembley, even Spurs at home we played amazing). Lampard hasn't (yet) beaten a considerably better team than us... We haven't had a big enough sample size yet, but I would feel more confident coming up against Sheffield United at Wembley and getting a big result under Robins than Lampard, but Lampard has maybe produced the consistency to get us there....
Hull, Derby, Plymouth, Luton???
Is that the dross your on about???
Hey, this isn't a comparison or a competition between 2 great managers.
Can we just enjoy getting a 5th place play off place? And be thankful for that.
