People of Coventry will slate everything and anything about the city and that includes the Ricoh.

There are towns and cities all over the country worse than Coventry, especially over the past few years.

The city centre is what lets
Cov down, I’d rather go elsewhere to do shopping. There are many worse towns and cities though.

The problem is the lack of investment in Coventry. Whilst I don’t see an issue with the students in the city - there’s lack of things for them to do whilst it’s just as easy to pop on the train to Birmingham - better shopping, bars and nightlife

Other than getting stabbed, there isn’t much you can do in Coventry

I wouldn’t say we’re faltering - on the contrary 2 defeats in 16 is unreal. I think there’s a bit of frustration about our finishing but other than that, I’m still hyped about this season

The Ricoh is a souless place and has been since we were relegated from the championship. That's not really the fault of the stadium, neither in design nor location .
If we were attracting 18,000 plus every game it wouldn't receive the criticism it gets , but we'll only get that when we are in the championship or higher.
The club seem to think that we would be getting an average of around 13,000 this season if we had remained at the Ricoh: still less than half full but given our circumstances ove the last decade its reasonable : better than some attrendences at HR when we were in the top division.
The fact is if we were in the premier league the atmosphere wouldn't be an issue.

Other than more touristy cities like Bristol, Nottingham and Newcastle, Coventry is no worse than Sunderland, Stoke, Wolverhampton, Derby, Bradford, Portsmouth, Plymouth and Hull.

I only realised Coventry wasn't too bad the moment I left the city.

Sorry mate, but that's rubbish. If you knew anything about Torch you'd know that he lives and breathes Coventry City, Affection for the club is not contingent on living in the city or (judging by the number of Liverpool/Manchester/Arsenal shirts knocking about) vice versa.

I don't wish to know the odious individual. I haven't questioned his support of the club I've questioned his attitude towards whether he cares if we're back in Coventry or not. A question he seems to avoid.

I've worked in brum for 25 years and the abuse I've had off that lot for being from Coventry is unbelievable. They question where I'm from when that place is even worse. I remember us playing blues/villa home and away over the years and my anger during those games cos of the inter city rivalry was mad. Those who know what I'm on about will know where I'm coming from. I'm sorry but the likes of him will never feel that way.

From Alex Craig on Twitter:

I miss this place. The pub. The People. The walk to the ground. The walk up the steps seeing that view I’ve seen since the age of 3, in a ground never a good atmosphere but if it was rocking, it was rocking. I’ve attended every game this season. It don’t feel the same.

Nothing against St Andrews good proper ground. But I’d honestly rather finish bottom of League One this season and play at the Ricoh than top with St. Andrews. I met Hundreds (no over doing it) of people, mosy who I call my friends. Other than that Sanjay lad who’s a right t**t

On a personal level. Without Coventry City I don’t think I’d be in such a good place mentally as I am now. Don’t know why I’m tweeting this at 2am. But whatever happens I know in my head. I’ll one day go to a match in coventry. See them people. Sing our songs. Maybe walk home.

I don’t enjoy getting a train,Coach to a so called “home game” when I walked with my dad from the age of 3. I still can’t get over us playing in Birmingham.

In 2009 I saw us play Chelsea,Leicester and Leeds. Yet in 2019 I’ve seen us draw 0-0 with Forest Green Rovers, Walsall and Burton Albion. I don’t care what league we are in come to think of it. As long as we play in coventry. I’m happy.
Some fans don’t get how lucky they are Arsenal,United and Everton all moaning. When We’ve not played at home since April. Bury haven’t played at all since May. And Bolton started the season on -12 points and a team full of U21s players.

I’ve been every game this season. League and Cup games. Yet I feel I’ve not seen my team play in ages. I miss the Ricoh. It was never full. But full of Loyal Cov fans.

@WaspsRugby
(London)
@EFL
hope your extremely proud of yourselves. Because some city supporters will never see there team play in Coventry again. That breaks my heart

Was that walking distance from the ground? One of the things I hated about the Ricoh Arena was there were no decent pubs nearby and we ended up drinking in the casino, but fair enough if the Cherry Tree was nearby. I must have missed that.

But as I said, it’s a £5 train journey to Birmingham and back to get all of this on a bigger scale. The shopping centre is great and you can make a day of it. Broad street alone has better and more bars than the whole of Coventry

Growing up in Coventry was literally going on the same route every Saturday night. But there is no other reason to go to the city centre

I suspect the difference is between people who go to drink and people who don’t. Me and Otis aren’t drinkers and prefer the Ricoh.
