Does anybody think we need a Michael Doyle, Chris Morgan or Michael Brown?

Last season I think our team was too nice and it will be even rougher in League One.

Regardless of criticism by some of our supporters, Michael Doyle was the player that our club missed over the last 2 seasons.

i hasten to add, that quite possibly had M.D. remained with us, we would not now be discusssing matters of League 1!!

I actually think once Carsley was injured we really missed Doyle. We had no battle in midfield.

Hopefully Deegan can come in and do that.

Of course it is all a matter of opinion.

Deegan was brought in to do a similar job, but due to many recurring injuries, he didn't play, hence the type of player we missed most was Michael Doyle. I accept that his

range of passing was limited at best, but we didn't rely on him for his Beckhamesque capabilties, we relied on him to snap at many opposition players ankles.

Given a choice between Doyle and Deegan, Doyle wins every time.

but this ios thorn era and wether u like sideways or not there is a lot more passing involved thus wether u loved doyles tenacity or not he has no place in a thorn team so why worrya bout it

I am pretty sure Doyle could pass back to Murphy as well as Clingan did ;)
I can never recall Doyle attempting to pass to one of our centre backs on at least four occasions in one season, only for quicker witted forwards to 'nip in',

resulting in at least 2 goals against.

I would argue that deegans passing is worse than doyles. I think that Doyle was better for us than we seem to remember. He scored the more goals from cm than any other midfielder has for us in te championship. And he could play some decent passes. I would take him back in an instant.

He used to like the Diagonal Switch pass which sometimes looked amazing. Sometimes it wasn't very good but when it worked it looked good.

Not to mention this:

Obviously, Doyle wasn't really one of my favourite players, but I would love to have him back here now. L1 is more his level. Regrets, I've had a few...

Like him or love him he was one of the best servants to the club in recent years. Nearly 250 games in 6 seasons. I Respect that!

Couldn't be more wrong. His passing wasn't brilliant, but to say worst passer ever is complete rubbish buddy.

He would do a job breaking up play and score the odd goal.

This is nonsense.

He was hardly xavi, but worst passer ever at city? Load of rubbish!

the reason he was terrible was because he played like he WAS XAVI

always attempting silly passes he did not have the skill to pull off.

Don't like the love for giving 100% over skilful players, but Doyle would help us in the middle

Deegan the paramilitary pitbull - has a certain ring to it. Expect he will do ok in that role but expect Kilbane will do better, may not have the legs of youth of Deegan but will bring leadership through experience to this young team. I expect KK to play the holding role in midfield.

giving 100% and have no skill = the english chav mentality

I couldn't disagree more with this statement.

Blame the supporters who idolise, the clubs who purchase them or the managers that select them, but a player with limited ability giving their absolute all is what we can and should expect. We would all love to play like Spain but its not going to happen and with limited budget its about making the best of the tools and resources you have at your disposal.

If that means being physical over pretty then so be it ... however the original thread suggested Michael Brown. It may make me a hypocrite based on what I've just said but I would rather see a team full of paedos and rapists than have him in a City shirt

Deegan is a woeful passer, but he has the job of being a feisty industrial midfielder.
That's fine if you have a good passer alongside, this could be Bigi or Thomas maybe even Kilbane.
Clingan in my opinion did a rubbish job of this.
When did we ever see Clingan put a blinding pass through the opposition back 4?
