We’ve not played anyone claim (39 Viewers)

We’ve had an easy start to the season. We all knew that before it had started. The run is much harder post Wrexham.

I suspect we will drop into our natural position of 5th / 6th before January.

We're not top of the league because we've mostly played teams from lower down.
The lower-placed teams we've played so far this season are down there because they've had to play Coventry and got nothing from the game. Wait till we've played everyone else, then look at the table

We’ve definitely ‘played’ teams. A quick glance at the table tells us this.

One thing I have wondered about though is timings and whether we’ve been a tad lucky as to when we’ve played them. Most obviously Millwall, who I think were missing most of their best players. Could also make the same argument for Pompey and Blackburn.
And What the hell happened to QPR when we played them?!

Anyway, I don’t know if I believe this either…and we’ve been without our best player for what seems likes ages.

Maybe (he says in a whisper) we’re just very very good.

If Millwall had beaten us they would be 2nd
Leicester Hull QPR 3rd
Birmingham joint 6th

if we’d lost these we would be saying we’ve had a very difficult start!!

Strangely enough they’d all be above us if they’d beaten us. Funny old game.

And still on 14 pts.

Agree entirely with this.
Can’t go as far as to ‘like’ it but I also see it panning out something like this.
Maybe.

Start of the season I would have agreed with you however we have clearly been the best team in the league by far and the stats back this up.

It will be extremely difficult to maintain Autos all season but I don’t see us dropping below the top 3/4 at any point. Ipswich may well come good, Leicester have the squad to and Middlesbrough could maintain form. On current evidence I can’t see any others being a major threat.

We have had a pretty easy start, it's hard to argue otherwise really.

Saying that is not downplaying the start or saying we're not there on merit or that we're about to start tumbling down the table, or anything like that.

It's been an incredible start, regardless. But we have had a pretty kind opening set of fixtures.

As a Cov fan, can’t help but agree with this, even though I don’t want to and even though over the course of a calendar year we’re an “autos” team…

Our start has been favourable.

Our start has been exceptional.

These two statements aren't mutually exclusive.

Plus, nobody's making up the numbers this year; all teams are competitive at the level they are playing at.

It is just a start at this stage, though, so I'm trying to keep my feet on the ground.

The comment that makes me wince is when people say ‘nobody’s really standing out or grabbing the league by the scruff of the neck’ Translates as “I predicted the parachute teams to be up there and they’re looking shit”

This season is really weird. Teams seem reluctant to sack managers. It’s like the focus is on the ownership. Owners know that a change of manager just brings the spotlight onto them and in most cases, they’re not keen to do that. Exception might be Ipswich where McKenna has a lot of credit in the bank. But my hope is that Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester carry on being boring and underwhelming but not so awful that they are forced to change manager.

3/4 weeks ago, I’d have included Norwich in that group but they do look utterly hopeless now.

11 games in a stupid comment to make. No 11 games in the champ are easy so we are where we are on merit. How many teams are top after 11 games and don’t make the play offs? It’s a stupid comment

One indication that we are a very good team is that, as often as not, we are absolutely thrashing the lesser clubs when we play them. Millwall are third and (ignoring goal difference) QPR are joint fifth and look what we did to both of them.

We are, at the moment, clearly top on merit. I accept that things can change, for a whole host of reasons, including injuries to and loss of form by, key players. I do not, however, accept that our current position is due to anything other than the fact that we are a very good team and have been playing excellent and exciting football.

there's 11 points between 3rd and 21st. It's a competetitve division as always (just the relegated sides haven't started well for a change).
November is going to tell us what this team really is.

I here this alot too absolute bollocks.

There No easy games.

Ipswich showed 2 seasons ago you dont need to beat anyone in top 6. Just beat the bottom 18 and automatic guaranteed.

For me, Ipswich, Norwich and Sheffield Utd are the real under performers.
Leicester are doing alright given the shit show they are.
Southampton have allegedly signed good players but I don’t really see it…and they were really rubbish last year.

The mantra for this league is ‘anyone can beat anyone’.

Norwich have looked absolutely terrible.

Ipswich I think will sort themselves out. They had like 30 shots against Charlton and lost 3-0 🤣

Ipswich and Leicester have a decent team bit are missing that striker. So that isn't gonna improve.

Ipswich really missing Delap/Hutchison/Broadhead.

I hadn’t seen any stats from the game..yeah, sounds like they might get their act together.

My son reckons Robins has been linked to Norwich…I can’t see it.
