In Jimmy Hill's day he would have had them along to provide the half time entertainment.

I am not adverse to the traditions of brass bands, although I much prefer the New Orleans versions (see Dirty Dozen Brass Band). The Colliery bands were great but Thatcher put paid to them. Still plenty around in truncated forms in carnivals.
If you are old enough, you will remember brass bands as the only entertainment at the footie. The Jimmy Hill revolution swept that away, even though we did get The Sky Blue Song (Tea Dance Version). The Villa were late to the game and still had brass bands some years later, which tells you all you need to know.
