I just don't like players getting over the top criticism . Whether it's EMC tonight , Lati in general who hasn't been as bad as some suggest and Collins tonight who was blameless for the goals
It’s not over the top though is it? He was really poor tonight again. We’ve spent £5m on him. He needs to deliver more

Very odd that people are blaming Collins for tonight.
It's not that he's being blamed, it's just another game where he's provided absolutely nothing.

Their goalie generally dominated the box and his decisiveness stopped any possibility of a goal on two occasions (Bassette early on then Eccles). There's no chance you get anything like that from Collins.

Yes he does but he wasn't "really " poor he was quiet yet still should have had an assist .
Last season for Posh he had a free role ,almost like Wright has for us but he doesn't seem to know where the coaching staff want him to play and I'm including MR in that too

He didn't really have much else to do? They only had 2 shots on target, one including the deflection.

He's made some absolute fuck ups, that one where he punched mid air and missed the ball stands out. Not sure how he's getting all the pelters tonight.

I think poor and anonymous are synonymous to be honest

Are we reading the same thing?

no tackles won
Lost half of his duels
50% passing on long balls
Well of course you've picked 3 from a long list, but 50% on long balls and duels is decent. Tackles barely you get any these days it's interceptions and clearances which were both high. It was 0/1 tackles so not like he missed tackles and he was booked for that one when arguably did get a piece on the ball and still stopped the play. You'rejust doubling down now in spite of listed facts.

Bassette is better against tired legs, he isn't physical enough to be a lone striker yet. Runs around a lot which will catch some people's eye but let's utilise that against knackered legs.

Defence and Sheaf were so poor for their second goal. Really annoying as we were gaining a foothold after looking a bit stunned with their lucky first goal.

MvE needs a rest, so pissed off we haven't got back up for him. Same goes for Sheaf.

Felt for Simms again tonight, he actually won some good headers and got it down and set play to the wings a few times when he came on but we stopped crossing when he was central. Bizarre.

Actually don't think it takes many signings to make us look way better.

FL needs to stick to an XI for a few games for me. Start Simms and start Torp , who you drop out of Eccles and Sheaf is subjective as neither have been very good of late

I just dont think we have the players to set a lone striker up for success. Like i think simms would be poor in that role too. We need to play two up front i think. Would like to see Bassette up front with Simms

Very odd that people are blaming Collins for tonight.

The keeper was the least of our problems.
Not sure many are blaming him. Certainly the first was unlucky and the second is more on the defence/midfield BUT it's another game where they've scored every shot on target with him in goal (arguably scored one more than shot on target depending on the deflection). You can't have a keeper that does that consistently. Even the last game he let every shot on target in...

I don't care if he's good at playing out with his feet or whatever, he can't save shots and that goes way higher on the list of priorities.

Maybe right but I'd have backed a fresh Norm against their defence in the last 20 mins they looked a bit leggy.

Basically we need Wright back asap really

Maybe the goals weren’t his fault but I’ve seen keepers regularly tip shots like the second goal around the post fairly often. He doesn’t command and his speed and awareness of distribution is poor. There’s lots made of our XG and often opposition keepers pull great saves off. Our keeper isn’t upper Championship standard.

MVE 7

I don’t understand why he gets flack, often tracks back and breaks up opposition attacks, gets forward well, put a few decent crosses in and had a wonderful bending run to bypass their defence. Decent performance in my view. Nice to see his long throw being used at least once. It’s a bugbear of mine that we often get turned over when we win a throw. It’s often lost or thrown towards our own defence even in an attacking area

Thomas 6

He is a big clogger in the old fashioned mould. Wasn’t too bad and held his line reasonably well. Needs to close down a bit better around the D.

Lati 5

Loses a mark for getting done in the Grant goal build up. He’s a DM playing CD atm and I can help but think that Frank will move him to a more natural position next games.

Bidwell 6

Solid enough in defence and it was good to see him shout “move” at Sheaf when he was trying to find someone to throw to. One or two decent crosses and generally ok.

Eccles 5.5

I suppose unlucky for the “own goal” so I’ve knocked him half a mark. Like Sheaf he’s far too keen to take the easy ball, which is often backwards. I’ve got a tin foil hat reason why our players do this which I’ll thread about in a bit. A few decent passes but can’t seem to break up play in midfield. I predict Lati will be BWM next outing and Eccles benched.

Sheaf 5

Missed a sitter, lost a few balls, tackled and Dispossessed easily, few misplaced passes, few tackles won, mainly passed backwards. He rarely has a crack when around the D. Have in mind where the WBA goals came from.

Rudoni 5

A few poor corners, a couple of decent ones, a few poor crosses, a few decent ones, couldn’t get passed his marker often. We are playing 3 “passy” type midfielders. We need a ball winner and a runner in the mix.

EMC 5

Need to learn the offside rule or play a little deeper and run in. Overplays things too often.

Bassette 6

Full of enthusiasm and guile and draws two markers to him, which should open things up for his teammates. Didn’t get the rub of the green tonight. That said, he’d be a terror along side a big front man.

Tats 7

Looked on it and was unlucky not to score from a header. Links so well with MVE that often we don’t notice that that is where so much of our better play derives, on the right with those two moving and rotating the opponent defence.

Subs

Torp 6

Unlucky with the header, had a couple of cracks on the edge of the box. I’d rather see a midfield of him, Lati and BTA. Would be surprised to see that.

BTA 6

Not much.
