I'll just offer the devil's advocate position that you have an incredibly stupid / lazy councillor who didn't even know if there was a meeting or not, so just blagged it in their reply.

Yeah, it would have been a massive quick u turn.

Although other councillors have actually said things to imply there was a meeting.

There was a meeting planned for tonight.

Simon said it was about wasps, but we don't know for sure.

What we do know is the meeting is no longer going ahead after a load of people have kicked off about a meeting about wasps.

That, along with the meeting and its purpose being leaked to the BBC, implies the meeting was regarding them.

If it wasn't about supporting them then what was it regarding? If it was why such a rapid u-turn.

Something dodgy still going on.

They realise it's a vote loser and, as time goes on, there's less of the councillors personally tied to that decision back when Wasps came, so are more likely to speak out.

Duggins is one of the last rump of the old guard really, and maybe the newer ones think it's time to show themselves as different from them.

The council leader is emailing people in no uncertain terms that there's going to be no support for wasps or related companies.

I'm still trying to figure out the play.

Many thanks for your email and passing on your concerns.

I take these considerations very seriously, and I will ensure that your perspective is represented to Council before any decision is made, either this evening or Monday.

A friend of mine who is is based in Longford ward has sent a similar concerned message to Cllr Duggins and has been informed that there is no meeting taking place at all.

Can you please confirm this is correct?

We have now had notice that there will not be a meeting happening today.

There was 100% a meeting and it has been cancelled now. Is it genuinely public pressure or do they have something else planned?

Yeah would the public pressure influence them so much after everything?

Thing is, this is one of the first things in years that city fans (and non city fans but tax payers) would all be united about.

To his credit, he does always seem to reply quickly, and doesn't sugar coat things. Terrible public speaker, but I can see how he ended up being leader in that respect. We'll see if my other two get back to me - whether they bother to reply or not might be enough to decide if I can vote for them, regardless of views on issues. No point having a local councillor who thinks your existence is an annoyance!

This is legit apart from the forum masturbator bit though.

They are all coming out now saying no support for them which is great.

It all seems so odd though. Simon had no reason to lie about a meeting so I believe there was something planned.

Would they really back down on it after some public pressure? They've been fine acting the c**t in the past.

Could be as simple as a meeting put in and someone put 2 and 2 together and went to the press. Could be that was the plan but literally everyone involved told them to get fucked so they cancelled it.

Probably the latter considering the meeting was pulled.

Big George would do him in a scrap.

I'd pay good money to see this.

Maybe it's going to happen in Lloyds with Hill?

Think that's the issue.Probably a lot of new councillors who have no vested interest as they weren't around when the original decisions made.

Hi you dirty fucking pervert,

I was as horrified as you to read the reports on social media. I am pleased to be able to say it has now been confirmed there will be no financial package for Wasps.

Best wishes,
Cllr

Hello tatty twat face head,
There is no financial package going to Wasps from the council. Nor should there be, we have more urgent things occurring currently and providing financial support to any professional sports team is not one of them.

Kind Regards

Cllr

Something is still going on. They might have retreated behind the castle walls now but we can't take our eyes off it just yet. I don't trust any of them one bit.

One thing is for sure though, the power of this forum has proved itself today. Whoever has Duggins at gunpoint can let him go now.

I'm guessing they were thinking about it then?

That's the implication I'm getting from the varied responses.

There was something on the table from the leadership. The other councillors weren't keen and the public kicked off means they knew they wouldn't get it agreed so have cancelled.
