Effected every professional sports team.
How many non-sports businesses have gone to the wall because they couldn't get help/breathing space? Where's the help for so many other hospitality/conferenceing/hotel businesses that struggled or failed?
How many other businesses could have got away with the salary reductions Rugby did? If they owe HMRC then they were paying wages the business couldn't afford regardless of salary cap - just because it's x million doesn't mean they had to spend the limit if the business couldn't afford it.
Let's look at the finances over previous 5 years or even since they took over the Arena.
Let them look at why the bond was so large - as a significant percentage was to repay personal loans to the person still running the business.
Let them look at an industry overall where few clubs are making money even pre-COVID.

I'm along the lines of this being equally as bad as Saracens misdemeanours, who when I've seen them mentioned on Wasps boards, are referred to as "the cheats"!!!

Rugby clubs think than can be ran like football clubs. They vastly overestimate the local and global Pull. The whole model hasn't worked since the 90s and never will until they have a massive reform.

You've had plenty of reasons given on here mate, and from a good few people, you've just chosen to ignore them.

So it's pointless engaging with you on this I'm afraid, you've obviously made your mind up.

You might as well just crack on and talk about something else or I'm afraid it looks a bit like trolling.

Rugby is the resentful little sibling, pissed off and jealous that it’s older and more loved sibling (football) always has been and always will be the clear, most popular, favourite.

Why are Wasps fans replying to the tweet CRFC put out suggesting their fans hold back a bit on the abuse with stuff about how rugby fans are better than football fans? Do they not realise its a tweet from a rugby club?

SISU are here because they were the only party the council would deal with re: the Ricoh in 2007.

if the council discussed Manhattan’s offer or even Robinson’s SISU would be elsewhere

Is it actually due in any meaningful way? The bond has passed the redemption date, isn't it now just wasps promising to keep paying interest rather than a requirement?

This kind of thing, I don't get. If you don't like the sport, fair enough, but this simply isn't true.

I went to a school, and definitely not a posh one, where we played football and rugby. Funnily enough a lot of the lads who were good at rugby were good at football too (and tennis and hockey and most other sports, annoyingly).

To say they don't understand sport is rubbish and frankly, arrogant.

Basically, you play and watch what you enjoy. I was pretty crap at everything, but probably marginally better at rugby. I played football though, because that's what I enjoyed more. I still do, fwiw, but it doesn't mean I need to make stuff up to justify that choice. A lot of my mates played rugby, that was their choice.

They didn't make those choices because they don't understand sport. Like music, people just like different things.

It's true that loads of people play/watch multiple sports. However I've always found those special sorts that ONLY like Rugby to be very strange.

Mate, rugby is far from perfect, but I also know that plenty of football fans who have no interest in rugby, also despair at the endless shithousing that's crept into the game.

Disregarding rugby completely, I genuinely can't think of another sport like football where abusing the officials endlessly and frankly, cheating, is somehow seen as acceptable. I hate that side of football because I love the game, not because I also like rugby.

I don't know about moral high-ground, but it's hard to dispute that if nothing else there's a bit more respect for officials in most other sports that I can think of.

Anyway I'm going off-topic here and spoiling our enjoyment of Wasps struggles, so I'll leave it at that.

Not sure any sport can claim a moral high ground. Cheating scandals, drug scandals, player behaviour seem to be across so many sports

I take this as tongue in cheek or under the influence of too much cider. I went to school in Rugby, 7 miles from Coventry, and guess what? The game was invented there. They are both sports that millions of people enjoy, BOTH of them. I really can't understand this hatred of rugby.

As for disrespect, a few years ago on this site, many people were suggesting CCFC build a stadium on the Butts. There was no mention of CRFC and how they would survive, people on here didn't even think about that, possibly in the same way Wasp fans were viewing the Ricoh.

I am a season ticket holder for CCFC and CRFC because I love both sports and enjoy the company of both sets of fans.

I don't hate Rugby, I hate Wasps.
As I recall, the future and involvement of CRFC were fully discussed at that time.
And... Wasps fans were not viewing the Ricoh in any way at all, they knew nothing about it until it was announced.

At 6.5%, it's just eating away at their funds. Interest = £2.275m pa on £35m (if my Maths is up to scratch). so if they pay quarterly (?), they're having to find £568,750 every quarter ! Can't see where that's coming from, unless it's Richardson or the original bond money itself.

Apologies. in advance if I have miscalculated (won't be the first or last time !)
