Schmee, you're talking shite. If an organisation wants to be representative of a group they need to make it as easy as possible to join and participate. They should be asking for feedback on how they can do those things effectively. No one has spoken up to say that they do this so taking this board as a sample, they're falling well short.

Democracy is won by establishing a process that can be seen to be fair, open and available.

The Trust has any number of potential mechanisms to find out the opinions of its members online.

Presumably they've still got our emails from when we signed up, but I can't remember the last time any attempt to make contact with the wider membership was attempted.

Patently it's not open or democratic if the only way to represent one's opinion to the Trust is to attend in person on a set night; that's designed to exclude. Clearly the venue couldn't come close to accomodating everyone the Trust claims to speak for in any case.

If the trust wants to represent itself as a few blokes that can make a Monday night down the pub, that's fine with me. If it wants to claim it's speaking on behalf of a larger number of fans then it should get off its collective arse and engage them,
It has never been easier to carry out large scale engagement either, but it's much more convenient to engage with people with whom you're likely to agree.

What’s that got to do with the complete failure of those that moan to do anything be it join and change it or challenge its position as representatives of the fans?

I found it just as easy to participate in when I wanted as my local Labour Party or social club for example. Could it have been easier? Sure. Was it impossible? Not at all.

The question of the thread isn’t “is the Trust perfect?” It’s “is whining about it online ever going to achieve anything, or are there better uses of our energy?”

And seriously, the usernames are written right there, even my four year old can copy a word.

Your experience clearly hasn't been the same as others. Blaming people for not engaging with an organisation that appears to do very little to make that process simple is really short sighted. I'm not going to wade in any further on this - you'd do well to pause for a minute and entertain the possibility that something working fine for you has no direct link to how that process went for others.

Here, SD model rules. I assume the Trusts are similar. Pretty clear that you can raise members motions at AGM and that’s where the board are elected: https://www.swanstrust.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Model-Rules-2016-with-Signatures.pdf

Why don’t people put a motion together for online meetings? Or something about Wasps or whatever you think would get support? Would be a more useful step than petitions or the like and a mix of here FB and Twitter alone should be enough to get the signatures. You can vote by proxy as well for all those hard working Muslims

If there’s one thing the last four years of the Labour Party has taught me its that those that know the rule book and turn up run the world.

“The Trust is shit”

Hey guys good news, turns out they are a democratic organisation with a rule book that can be followed. You could change that if you want.

“Fuck you, what’s your problem?”

On the CWR rugby show tonight they had some “rugby expert” on the show who said that if Wasps get relegated they could probably survive for one season however if they didn’t get back up after that they would have to let The Ricoh go and wind up playing at Butts Stadium if Coventry would have them - they then talked about the prospect of Coventry Rugby Club getting promoted and if they did they would need to bring the Butts up to Premier League standard or they could move to The Ricoh and stadium share.
Wasps are seriously on a knife edge - if they indeed did get relegated this season I think they would be on the brink!
Bring it on!!!

If they did go down it wouldn't be a surprise to see their crowds drop off at a much greater level than you normally see with a relegated club which will just make their problems worse.

Most of their fanbase have only been supporting a few years, they aren't going to stick around for second tier rugby sat in the Ricoh with crowds that would make a wet Wednesday night check-a-trade game seem busy.

After all if they wanted lower league rugby they've had CRFC here for decades.

They were aiming to be the best team in Europe, then win the Premiership, then finish in the top 4, then the top half. Now their aim is to stay in the league.

What's your logic there? Wasps and Irish are level on points but you think Wasps could finish 7th with Irish certs for relegation.

I don’t think people (especially the wasps ‘fans’) really understand the seriousness of wasps financial position. If they do get relegated and there is a high possibility that this will happen (if not then certainly next season with the cost cutting) they will be liquidated. End off.

As much as I’d love to see it - Wasps won’t get relegated, Rugby is stacked so the bigger teams don’t get relegated

It's going to be difficult enough for them to refinance if the EC complaint is upheld.

That's not true, there's effectively 13 big teams and one went down last year, and another will go down this year whether its Newcastle that come up to replace them or not.
The Saints weren't too big to go down just over ten years ago, and looking at Wasps squad this year, there isn't a depth of quality there, which I am more than pleased about.

Based on squad capability. It would be like looking at the premiership and thinking Arsenal are as likely to go down as Southampton.

Wasps are poor this year no doubt, but them, Tigers and Sarries will steer clear of the drop

Must be a rugby thing, makes no sense to me.

If I look at the table I see Arsenal in the top half well clear of the relegation zone, and then Southampton a bit below them but nowhere near the relegation zone.

Then I look at Wasps and they are effectively 3rd from bottom level on points with the team 2nd from bottom and only two points ahead of the bottom team. Last week they blew a lead to lose against a team that had 2 players sent off, couple of weeks ago they blew a 17-0 lead to lose - both at the Ricoh!

If that was us I wouldn't be in the slightest bit confident we were staying up.

I don’t think you understand the difference in stature between the teams that’s all. Wasps are on a bad run and they do have a relatively poor team. However, they are better than Irish and I cannot see a scenario where Irish finish above them

Surely if a side (regardless of the sport) continues on a bad run for half a season then that said side is in a relegation battle regardless of their quality on paper? Wasps may not go down this season - I can only take your word for it because I know little about the quality of the teams within their league - but at the minute the gap between Leicester and Wasps is closer than between Wasps and Harlequins. If their attitude is: 'there's a couple of worse sides in the league, lots of points still to play for so we'll be fine', then that level of arrogance could easily lead to their downfall. Case and point was Sunderland when they dropped from the Championship into League One. They need to get a grip with reality rather than cling onto their distorted view that they're a Rugby giant and play like they're in trouble because surrendering 17-0 leads and losing against 13 men isn't indicative of a top 6 side.

I know absolutely nothing about Rugby but to back up ccfchoi87's point, Wasps are 13/2 to finish bottom, London Irish are evens. The bookies aren't always right obviously but that's a huge differential.

I think they will go down. Leicester are turning the corner, having won the last game. Saracens will rise, they have a strong side and with potentially 5 points per game available, should be in plus score within 2 games. Irish have beaten Wasps away so must be confident for the return. Wasps are really in a downward spiral. lets hope Worcester give them a tonking!!

you are correct about the bonus point for 4 tries but incorrect about no points for losing if you lose but are within 7 points of the opposition you also get a losing bonus point.
