VULTURES IN THE AIR - Jordan Willis Target (1 Viewer)

According to The Star Newcastle, A Villa and Everton are targetting our 17 year old England U18 defender JORDAN WILLIS

Maybe just paper talk but we can't ignore it.

I seems as though with the new academy rules coming in clubs are wanting to build a development squad of players to bridge the gap between the academy and the first team.

I wonder whether there would be quite the interest had we avoided relegation.

If we get cash for Bigi and Willis and we are allowed to bring in 7-8 freebies with the money. I would not complain as I think that would keep us up. However I don't think the money will be handed to AT and SW

They'd be much better served staying and play first team football - Newcastle haven't particular got a good track record of producing players, I can only think of Carroll, taylor and ameobi who have come through in the last 10 years to have significant first team role for them. Obviously money talks and if there's a half decent offer on the table, they'll be off.

How much do you think they are on/we will get for them to bring in 7-8????

Get rid of Bell/Baker and McSheffrey and their wages will allow you to bring in 7-8.

Very true LBB, any transfer fee received will go to funding our loses and maybe funding transfer/signing on fees. It won't be there for wages.

Championship Wages freed up from Keogh, Cranie, Fatswood (reportedly our highest earner)
Clingan (captain), ROD, Mcpake, Bigi, Willis, Platt

1 million for Keogh, 800k for Bigi, 500k for Willis, 100k for McPake.

2.4 million in

If they cant reduce the rent, then there is 1 million left over after that is paid off.

9 players wages freed up. Most of which are Championship wages.

Surely from that and 1 million we can offer 7-9 players free transfers, League one wages and we will still be saving money.

I think it is totally reasonable and realistic.

Do I think it will happen, no

agreed, dongy, but as stupot states, any money saved will go to offset the running loss, and any fees straight to SISU.

All in all, this leads me to make two conclusions:

1. The ludicrous odds from a variety of bookies on our chances of success (11/1 5th favorites to win the league (corals), 4/1 for promotion (betfred))
2. AT's naivety to go public with his '...I have a BANG BANG list...'.

It ain't happening Teflon, and if you said it just to appease the fans/boost season ticket sales, then you are no better than SISU and their lies, and if you believed it, then you are more gullible than I imagined.

However, no blame or criticism can be attached to AT.....:(

I presume that there is at least a degree of irony in the posts that criticise AT, generally in long threads that are very critical of AT, but then finish with comments like - "However, no blame or criticism can be attached to AT......"

Thorn will say anything his sisu paymasters tell him to. He has no interest in the club or the fans. He is only interested in his paycheck.

From what I have seen of him I don't think he would intentionally lie to the fans to get them to buy season tickets.

I would think it is more likely slippery Tim convinced him about that initial budget they were asking for. When he was coming out with the crap that Joy agrees we have to bounce straight back.

Unfortunately Joy then realised that by giving the team a bounce back budget to do this, that would significantly weaken her blackmail tactics with the council.

IMO (before a get the dull post asking me how do I know this for a fact)

I know you don't rate him tactically as a manager, but do you really think of this of him as a person?

Totally agree, KD...until the shit looks like it will come his way and he deflects it....as seen after the Millwall game.

Criticised others factors then, not previously, nor since. Not one ounce of blame accepted.

Well, let's see if he has found his level, or we need to drop another level (or two) to finally prove that Teflon can be a success...which will finally vindicate the opinion (as given by that footballing expert, Stuart Linnell and some fans) 'Anyone who says that AT is a not a good manager knows nothing about football'.

Ok, I know fook all about football, after 25 years of going home and away.

I try to brush them off when I can.......

More seriously, I think everyone is aware of AT's limitations, but are also aware that he is working under (if you'll allow a degree of understatement) "difficult conditions" and so are prepared to take a more balanced view.

But you haven't factored in that we will be losing £3m+ income from tv rights, premiership money and reduced attendances.

I used to, DTD, but after watching that last season/the vast majority of matches under AT's tenure, and reading/hearing his mind-numbingly mundane comments after each game, I have lost my balanced view of the man's ability...even with the obvious mitigating circumstances.

Just my view....I think we are going nowhere under his leadership...regardless of any signings he is allowed to make, as I have seen nothing/very little in 58 games which suggests to me that he has the tactical/motivational nous to take the playing side forward.

He's working under the easiest conditions a football manager ever has. He fails fails and fails again with no fear of the sack. When the going gets a bit tough he pretends to criticise the owners (probably instructed to by sisu hq) and then tries to con fans that it is alright then collects his next sisu paycheck,

I can see where you're coming from.

However post match comments - do you remember CC - "we bossed the second half (having been played off the pitch at Derby), MA - "if people criticise Micky Adams then Micky Adams will walk" (I'm paraphrasing here), ID - "the boys put in a shift today". I struggle to remember any post match comments that rose above drivel!

As for football style etc, I think he made a great start. I loved the football we played at the end of the season before last. I was at the Norwich game (last match of season) with Norwich fans, who before the game were telling me we'd be beaten 6-0 and after the game were telling me we'd be promoted next year (that worked out well......). Then we had the sell off and in particular the loss of King.

Did he make mistakes last season? Yes, plenty.

Have we ever had a manager that didn't? Not since I started watching just after JH left.

Is there any prospect of SISU funding an established manager to replace him? Not that I can see.

Tv rights, How much do we lose?

Premiership money? Again apologies but how much do we lose for this?

Reduced attendances, I maybe wrong but it seems to me that it is just the hardcore loyal fans left, who will come whatever the situation and this was the case last season.
Unfortunately I think SISU are aware of this and also think this will be the case in league 2. Where they will be able to reduce wages further and most the fans who went last season, will go this season, will again go next season even if it is league 2.

He played one full game in the league against Saints and we got demolished.

It's the season of rumours. He won't be going anywhere.

PL 'solidarity payments' to Championship teams are £2.2 million/season-the payments to League 1 clubs are £350k/season.

Wow so 1.3 million gone straight away. So that is the money recouped from transfer fees gone on this loss and the rent.

(Glad they chose to sell the Juke for between 750k - 1 million with 4 months of the season left ) as oppose to selling him now.

This boy Willis is a testement to tenacity and great work from our academy ,he was rejected by two or three local rivals youth set ups and has come back strong through personal refusal to take failure, ultimately rewarded with captaining England U18s.the question for us is would you rather lose two or three young ones and keep Keogh /Cranie
