The Ricoh isn't great for drinking really. You'd be best off having a few in town and getting a taxi up for kickoff, or go to the casino under the pitch.

I think that great, I am sure you will be entertained in some form or other, are you staying in Coventry that night? May be better to drink elsewhere and then get a quick taxi to the Ricoh

Yup .. arrive Thursday night and staying at a Pub south of town. Plan to do a quick walk around town before the match so I'm sure we can find a decent pub downtown before getting a taxi to the match. Any recommendation welcome/appreciated.

You nailed it! TBH we're in England for 10 days and committed to getting one match in per day and it was the only one we could find on the Friday night. Surely if we drink enough before the match..it should still be watchable?

the match will be watchable but I can't guarantee the beer will be drinkable.

It's a motley crew with origins in Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela but we all met through our kids football teams.. a mix of dads and coaches. We committed a couple of years ago to make a trip to England watch some Football & Rugby matches and we finally got it sorted with a packed schedule of matches and driving!

The Greyhound by the canal or one of the old pubs in CV1 like the townwall tavern, the gatehouse or the old windmill on spon Street would be your best choices. Return after to the old windmill and turmeric gold is only yards away.
Perfect.. thanks mate!!

A group of four of us from Houston, Texas is coming to the Cov City v Peterborough Friday night match on Nov 23rd. First time in Coventry and first time at the Ricoh so seeking ideas on local watering holes to meet-up pre/post match.

Fair play to you. Agree with Ashdown's comments, the pubs near the Ricoh aren't great even though I don't mind the Sheaf, I wouldn't take visitors there
