I'm with you on this, it's getting a bit boring.

Even with the devaluation of the pound relative to the euro working in our favour for once, it still seems like the net amounts we're talking about that our club might receive are around £3.5m - £4.25m.

A quarter of the clubs in the Championship already appear to have spent larger sums than this on a single player this summer.

It might help us but will need to be invested prudently to make maximum impact assuming it doesn't end up being sunk into an updated licence / lease agreement as part of the continuing impacts / costs to the club of the whole Wasps / ACL/CCC/Higgs Trust/Sisu fiasco.

Wouldn’t KKH put us among that quarter of clubs.

Supposedly no contact from sporting for 3 days, Club Brugge has done the same to AC Milan, they raised their offer to 38 million euros for midfielder Jashari but Brugge still hasn't got back to them

If Vik doesn't show today I think they will know they have a disgruntled player on their hands and there choices are loan him out or sell him. Vik saying he is prepared to wait until the end of the transfer window for a loan was really, I won't be playing for Sporting again.

I think Sporting know he's gone to be fair. They're just digging their heels in to try to get maximum value.

From Arsenal's perspective they need a striker though and there's not really any available under £100m currently.

Which is why I can't see them landing Sesko - and it's not just his fee that's the issue his wage demands are also apparently ridiculous.

They simply can't go another window without bringing a striker in, not if they want to properly compete for trophies.

Fair play to them for not budging. If Arsenal don’t wanna meet the valuation then it’s them pissing about. They could’ve had it over the line weeks ago.

There's now a risk that Arsenal's bid is the only one left and Sporting have a player who won't play for them again. He goes out on loan somewhere and gets a year closer to 30. His prime value is now and if no-one will pay it, then they will lose a chunk more next transfer window.

Have long given up on “The Vic Money” as the saviour to our transfer window.
If the less than £5 million is all we would have then we are not going to be buying much more this summer.
Lampard seems quite relaxed about it all so it does make you think MVE is off and that would be obviously serious money.

Agree. Additionally, there are risks on Arsenals side of this negotiation. If the reported figures regarding the terms Sporting are asking are correct and the difference is 5m Euro. Are they really going to pass on signing a centre forward that they desperately need, whilst splashing millions more on wingers and midfield players?
Seems that both sides in this negotiation are intransigent.

Sporting trying the Doug King negotiating playbook.

Who remembers them in the press saying "your player wants to leave and come to us, why get in his way?!"

That valuation will start to drop rapidly if the season starts and he's not playing.

I think we dodged a bullet. It's very rare a player goes on strike/refuses to honour their contract.

I have said this, Gyokeres and his agent were happy enough to sign the contract. Also this Sporting have gone back on a verbal agreement. Viks agent pretty dumb not to have the contract amended.

He was great here but often appeared aloof from the rest of the squad.

He’ll add another $10m…

Vik and agent doing what they did to us and telling Sporting where he will go even if the buying club doesn’t meet the asking price.

Being arrogant towards the opposition is one thing, but not with your team mates. He may have been better but he still needed them, they helped him, he didn't do it all by himself.

Arsenal are experts at consistently almost doing something right and then fucking it up at the last minute. I’d like if they got gazumped but so long as someone pays I couldn’t care less where he goes.

Vik will get a move but not sure Arsenal are going to be played in this process. They play hard and will have other options that are easier to get done. Vik may have to kiss a few arses at Utd or stay at Sporting.

Either way he has some bridges to build and may be he should hire better advisors. Although he needs to grow up, as he acts like a naughty kid who cant get his way when he thinks the grass is greener.

Because it's Arteta. He loves buying midfielders and defenders for relatively huge sums and ignoring the striker problem thinking that he can play a mid as a false 9. Hopefully by the time he comes round to offering a sum of money Sporting want Vik has already signed for someone else. Would serve him right

Just a quick question. If his fee is paid in instalments over 2-3 years, does that mean our sell on is also staggered?

Undoubtedly. Seems to be the way football transfer business is conducted these days.
Unless of course we implemented a clause in any sell on post Lisbon.
A Lisbon agreement if ever there was one.
