Hi there Sky Blues.

I'm not a CC fan but have good memories of coming to Highfield Road with my Club (Chelsea) in the 70's, 80's and 90's and also with my local team (Cambridge United). Can't believe what is happening to you - Cov are a great club and should be in the Premier League.

Really hate it when a good club gets shafted (Brighton). Nearly happened to use - we didn't own the freehold of Stamford Bridge - owners wanted to turn it into housing and make us play at QPR!!!!! Nearly happened until Batesy persuaded RBS to buy the freehold and sell it to us at a knock-down. But not every club is so lucky.

Just one question though - why did you ever sell Highfield Road?

Seemed like a good idea at the time.
I love the Ricoh but it needs fans to fill it.
With SISU they don't like too many fans.

To be fair Highfield Road was great on the terraces but behind the stands was antiquated facilities.
Parking was a nightmare if you had to come by car and local residents, including my sister, couldn't park outside there house on match days.
Perhaps a residents scheme could have worked but it's history now.

The plan to move was good but somehow we lost ownership of the stadium and form then on we were doomed.
Coventry Council stepped in to help but for some reason the club almost let then do what they want regards rent etc
I guess they could only see the premiership in there sights not league 1.
For some reason SISU who took over gave us a league 1 budget.

Was Nuneaton ever a runner? Northampton only holds 7,500 - Cov should be pulling 20,000+

The original idea being when we were back in the premiership, for us to keep up with the big boys we needed something that would bring in other income. Once we were relegated into the championship Highfield Road should have generated enough income to allow us to be competitive.

Unfortunately by that time highfield road had already been sold and I think they seen it as easier just to move.

What do you mean - sold all the assets Sure we sold Dann, Fox, Westwood, Juke, Best and a few others, but we invested 75 mill (approx) and bought in the likes of Malaga,Platt and O'Donovan, invested in a few long term contracts of our most valuable assets (you know who they are), sought top advice from the likes of The Orange One (Dulux). Can't believe some people can't appreciate what S(H)I(T)SU have done for us:facepalm:
