Obviously don’t know about his fitness but I thought taking him off was a mistake yesterday. I’d have probably taken Rudoni off ahead of him if we wanted to change the system.
I think that probably WAS why he was taken off. Tiredness.

Is it my imagination, or does he get subbed a lot?

Anyway, he's a very decent player. Also a player with a fabulous shot in his locker

Thought he was great again today. Think he’s more talented than Sheaf, a much more natural all rounder.
Benefit of having him in a more attacking midfield position is ironically that it helps defensively.

Both these. He lacks pace to get back 🔙 defensively, same reason he can't do box to box (although Viveash thought that would be his position).
But let him play in that pocket his vision and first time passes plays us in behind the opposition. In and around the penalty area he is capable of getting good shots off.

When he joined us his fitness levels were way off Championship levels (not a criticism of him just a fact of having to go up several levels).

It takes time to build fitness to Championship levels. More than a couple of months and that is without injury setbacks. Fans need to be patient with players coming in and temper their expectation.

I think at the moment we need to accept he is going to give us 60-70 minutes. If he stays injury free we may be getting 90 out of him by the end of the season.

Re Sheaf he is a great holding defensive mid and we should leave him to do that. The weight of trying to be the creative mid since Hamer left, for me has affected his form. I would rather see Eccles forage forward more than Sheaf.

There's,always been a question mark over his fitness but he's definitely improving.
He was struggling after 15-20 minutes at the start of the season.

What we need to do though is get him into shooting positions in and around the edge of the box
He should have been on the 18yd line for our corners when all their defenders were huddled in the 6yd box and there was acres of space in front of them.

Which is why it was frustrating he had to go off. We had a few opportunities with the ball at the edge of the box late on. Milan had a good effort but there were a couple of chances where players could have had a go.

Torp, Eccles and Sheaf have to be the 3 on Saturday. We can’t afford to have a CAM atm.

I see him as pretty harmless to be honest, but maybe you can send a PM Nick then and see if he will banish him.

I think Rudoni deserves a start.

I’d like to see us trying Sheaf, Torp and Rudoni. The one thing I liked at points in the second half was Torp operating in half spaces in the opposition 1/3.

It’s nothing against Eccles, I just feel like our ball movement is predictable with both Eccles and Sheaf playing as double pivots.

Those half spaces are the ones Rudoni tries to operate in. Imagine how exposed our defence would be with both.

Rudoni has better ball control/dribbling…Torp is more intelligent especially with his positioning.

I prefer Torp to Rudoni as our more advanced midfielder. Apart from anything else, he has a better shot in him.

Given our woes at LWB, I would be happy to go back to experimenting with Rudoni in that position. I thought he did quite well there and could hold that position down as a temporary measure until we can recruit someone.

Should be instead of Sheaf.

I would like to see a Torp, Rudoni, Eccles midfield. Think it's currently our best.

Not sure why anyone would drop Eccles. He's had a few meh games, but generally has been our best midfielder for some time.
But as you just said he's been the worst midfielder last 2 games so even if you wouldn't do it yourself you probably can see why anyone would drop him

I like Eccles but his sloppy passing at times causes us real problems.

I think the people that don't rate Eccles, don't rate Eccles. Even if he played well last two games they wouldn't see it.

If it's a toss up between him and Sheaf at the moment, there's only one player that deserves the shirt, and it's Eccles. Like I said, he's been poor for two games, but the other option has been continuously poor. Eccles hasn't and has still been our best player multiple times this season.

Can't agree. I don't have an agenda against Eccles. But he would be the midfielde ri would drop currently. Even though sheaf has been poor he's better at receiving the ball and moving it along.

Eccles did a great through ball but other than that seemed lost in his role. They both have a week of training to prove to lampard that they deserve to start I guess

That's fair, we are allowed to disagree.

For me I would like to see a midfield of Torp, Rudoni, Eccles. I think it would be an improvement personally.

The problem with Rudoni is he doesn't find those spaces & take up dangerous positions often enough.
Look at the difference Colwill made when he came on for Cardiff. Yes, in terms of ability he's a step up on Rudoni, but it was the positions he was taking up that caused us no end of problems. Rudoni fades in & out of games far too much.

I think if Sheaf had a better quality player with him in midfield, (this is not a slag Eccles post either just an honest assessment on my part) we would see a better Sheaf because it would take the pressure off him, Eccles has so far been our best midfielder but as mentioned above his sloppy passing is a concern and its not a high bar thats been set.
Our problem is similar to Man City, they lost their best midfielder and their performances have dropped dramatically, we lost our best midfielder in Hamer and although we have muddled thorugh with some success it is glaringly obvious that our midfield is short of quality but if that was addressed it would link between defence and up front with the right player and not some bargain bucket Doug King speculation!

Doesn't look a huge step up on Rudoni.
