Nothing like it at all. A few years back, we won 2-1 at Barnsley with Freddie Eastwood being amongst the scorers. On the CWR phone in a quite drunk caller rang in and said "I know he's a Gypo an that, but he played brilliant today". The caller was immediately cut off and an apology issued straight away.

Not from you though hey, you daft racist...

I don't care what race or group people come from
This article blamed SISU 100% even though Wasps and the council are holding the club and fans to ransom to win their argument
And then a councillor praises the article to the sky
Stinks to high heaven

Aside from my clear joking comment (I have no idea if he is from the travelling community but I would guess not) it is pretty obvious what's behind it. He asked if that could be the "baseline" for the media from now on. The same as when Duggins keeps praising the article done by David Johnson (which was helped by an ex council leader on it).

Add into that all of the strange social media accounts starting to appear again to try and push things and tell everybody the council aren't to blame for anything (the ones who won't have a clue about the Bradford or Sunderland result).

And once again a thread has been taken completely off track to try and get away from its original point as the majority are starting to realise exactly what’s happened.

A fair few people seemingly still struggle to accept that the council have also been underhand. Note, I used the word "also" which means SISU have "also" been underhand in the way they have gone about things. This means they are both utter twats.

That's just to clear up the confusion that if you say anything about the council then some thing it means SISU are blameless.

I have noticed that the old "the judges said the council have done nothing wrong" line is out to play again.

I can't argue with what appears to be SISUs ambition...to unite club with stadium ownership. The underlying ambition & tactics of getting there by being virtually gifted the Ricoh to gain a huge asset was the major flaw.

As for Wasps...they were homeless. Just like displaced migrants who had a chance of a permanent home. Why wouldn't you go for it?

It is shit in terms if consideration for loyal fans (we know this ourselves) but MK Dons now appear to have a growing fanbase in an area where there is a good potential fanbase. So Wasps have taken the same risk.

I am pretty confident we will now be able to strike a deal with Wasps for mutual benefit. Long-term we would ideally get a proper local stadium of our own but politically (yes - it IS political) the council need Wasps to succeed.

Never shyed away from the original point. Not intending to derail at all

In the early 90's me and a few friends followed Cov away to all corners of the country. One of my friends was of Sicillian descent and thus dark haired and olive skinned. From some of our own supporters even he'd get 'Gypo' 'Where's your caravan' levelled at him quite regularly which he'd just shrug off. This 'banter' culminated at a game at Goodison (It was St Georges day 94) where one of said supporters swung at him amongst a diatribe of said insults. My mate never went to many games after that.

For the moderator of this forum to dismiss this insult with arrogant jocularity is disgraceful.

Apparently SISU have 'no need' to move us to another ground, but he doesn't question why London Wasps moved to the Ricoh? It's always been all about the money for both of them.

And this bit was just laughable; 'Coventry city council’s approach has been upheld as proper and professional.'

As thousands singing on Friday showed, the resentment from us fans is against all parties. Conn's a clever guy and his article should accurately reflect this.

Resentment from fans doesn't alter the learned judgement of such situations.

And from the top of the Premiership to the bottom of the grassroots leagues...it is ALL about money!

Us returning to the PL would be their worst nightmare, it suits them for us to be in the lower leagues. Also the extra money that it would bring it would mean that we could actually afford to build our own stadium and take away vital income from them.

Anyway, why would sharing an expensive to run facility with therefore halved maintenance costs, not be in the interests of the two clubs that owned it?

Based upon that it would seem that it would be fair enough for us to relocate somewhere else in the country as we too would effectively be displaced migrants without a permanent home. They weren't actually homeless either and there were likely options within the Greater London area for them.

There's the issue of the tens of millions of debt against said facility.

Exactly. They turned down the chance to play in London because they wanted to "own" a stadium.

Therefore you would think now we are in this situation if we moved 80 miles that people who push that line will be fully behind it?

It's funny, every single person I know who gets touchy about blaming the council or wasps also attends games for the latter.

I suspect the correlation is the same on here.

You don't get something for nothing Mein Fuhrer...

What's it to be: Wasps don't want us there because we're an ownership threat or they do want us there to buy into the debt?

What are you on about now?

From the club's point of view, why would they buy 50% and take on 50% of the debt? £5m of that is to Richardson.

Can you imagine if people were saying Wasps should buy in and help pay SISU back?

You are trying so hard to catch people out but it doesn't really work does it?

No need, they’ve already been taken advantage of.

Imagine attempting to defend a sports team brought into the city from 100 miles away when there was already a rugby club here. And that’s not even before we look at the treatment of the city’s most successful sports team in history.

Pretty sure the speedway team would be the most successful sports team in history representing Coventry.

Pretty much, they all went in when Wasps moved here like the Trust and others. How it was going to be amazing for the city and all that bullshit they bought into.

Want to save face now.

I doubt many of them would even know who we are playing today.

It’s definitely this. People went on about morals during the Northampton fiasco, dropped them when London Wasps rocked up and so it became a completely anti-sisu stance. Now evidence emerges that corroborates the stance that more than one party is to blame they don’t have a leg to stand on so lash out in increasingly desperate ways.

I'd much rather move than take on half of about £20m of Wasps debt. It's a bit random that you are OK with that though?

After all, we would actually be homeless (unlike Wasps were) so I am sure everybody would be behind it like they were with Wasps.
