Yes they do.

We've already established the military 'experts' that you follow don't seem to know a lot.

So Putin was lying when he said he thought Ukraine wasn't a real country and owed its existence to Russia?

You have said he is a threat as much as Hitler - is he?

Is grenners pretending to be a military expert? He's already a bash at politics, economics and football and failed at them. Why shouldn't he try the military as well?

Not beyond Ukraine. BSB's post specifically mentioned Ukraine, as that's been the recent discussion in here - Ukraine negotiating and giving up territory.

I don't remember saying that-at least not recently. But the salient facts are

Putin has said he doesn't think Ukraine should exist
In the invasion so far his men have pretty happily targeted civilians
He has been dishing out Russian passports in occupied territories to try to 'reclassify' them as Russian areas

What makes you think he would be content with just a bit more of eastern Ukraine?

All I know is

-20% of Ukraine is under Russian control
- Ukraine is being led down shit creek by Biden without a paddle .
- Nato won't be getting that land back for Ukraine
- Ukraine don't have the power to take it back

What's the answer?

End the fucking war

This isn't like ww2 as unlike back then , no other army is entering Ukraine to drive Russia back , and they won't either

I know PVA will tell me that Ukraine will drive them back , but respectfully my friend they aren't strong enough and should negotiate on salvaging the country they still have now .

It would just be a temporary peace. If Putin knows they don't have the strength to resist him why would he stop with just a piece of the country when he can have the lot?

Once Russia takes all the black sea ports upto Moldova, it would make economical sense for Russia to agree to peace .. they have the region locked down on their terms and couldn't possibly lose the war

Or alternatively they could take the remainder of the country and trade with other countries not in on the economic sanctions. Carve up what was Ukraine into whatever they like and they have permanently wiped it off the map as intended.

I don't know if they will drive them back or not. My guess is that it's more likely than Russia taking the whole of Ukraine, which right now feels impossible.

Neither are strong enough to achieve their aims right now, but the difference is Ukraine are being constantly armed with modern firepower (currently being used to destroy Russian arms depots) while Russia resorts to lobbing 50 year old missiles at shopping centres.

It's a stupid war and the conflicts themselves within the Ukraine territory make very little sense. Up until last week Kyiv hadn't even been shelled for 3 weeks prior.

Now a shopping centre has been attacked and people are in shock at that? This isn't a game of tig in the playground. The Russians aren't and haven't fought clean ever. What do people expect?

Makes me laugh when the G7 come out and say 'we are behind Ukraine all the way until the end' too. Apart from giving them a few supplies they've been left pretty much entirely on their own. You can argue the logic in the decisions behind that, but ffs stop pretending to be hero's. Macron, Trudeau etc. All pussies.

He has set a precedent of using the nuclear deterrent to invade a country pretty much uninterrupted. The economic sanctions clearly aren't biting and with no military interference he can happily do what he wants.

The credible military experts view is it could last years but if the west keeps supplying Ukraine eventually Russia will have to pull back as it loses men and equipment they can't replace.

Why would the west keep supplying Ukraine for years though ? Whilst it's populations suffer huge financial strain ?

Never going to happen

I'm pretty certain they couldn't, not now.

Maybe if they'd come in and got their 3 day victory they would be able to. But they're far too depleted now to hold a country the size of Ukraine.

The coming months will be very attritional, any gains by either side will be quite minimal you'd imagine.

I don't think he's a fool but he's playing the media and being rather sensationalist ..if they genuinley thought the danger was that of 80 years ago .. they'd be in there now and beating Russia in the process

Russia couldn't win a World War

Well they’re not in there now because of the nuke threat that Hitler thank fuck didn’t have. Russia don’t need or want to win a World War. Just to wipe Ukraine, and possibly Moldova and Georgia too, off the map. That is within their capabilities.

An occupation wouldn’t be needed either. Just carve it up into different regions, put a pro Russia puppet in each of them and hand everyone a Russian passport.

I don’t even think Putin himself knows what will happen next. Very clear he massively miscalculated the difficulty of the invasion. But what he thinks of Ukraine as a state isn’t a secret.
