Defence is a big worry though and why no other left backs if as Southgate has just said Shaw is unlikely to make it.

I guess it will have to be Gomez or Trippier?

Yeah, surprised Chilwell wasn’t in as well as those two though, even though he hasn’t looked the best when I’ve seen him. Hoping that means Shaws is a better bet injury wise than most thought (heard he was very unlikely recently)

Southgate just said in his press conference that he’s a “long shot”

Players that aren't really good enough at their best positions playing out of position.

Henderson selling his principles for a few months of Saudi cash, moving back to Europe to play for England and still not making the squad.

Happy with that squad. Glad to see no Henderson or Rashford.

Well deserved callup for Adam Wharton.

I'm guessing the ones to be cut are likely

Trafford
Quansah
Wharton
One of Toney or Watkins
Possibly Jones
one of Dunk or Branthwaite
Bowen or Eze

Guessing final squad will be
Keepers
Pickford, Ramsdale, Henderson
Defenders
Walker, Trippier, Gomez, Konsa, Stones, Maguire, Branthwaite, Shaw
Midfielders
TAA, Mainoo, Rice, Wharton, Bellingham, Gallagher, Maddison
Attackers
Kane, Watkins, Bowen, Saka, Foden, Palmer, Eze, Grealish

It's an awfully imbalanced squad.

Whilst I think we're rightly in the conversation due to the wealth of attacking talent, I don't quite go along with the favourites tag. The nations that build from a strong, defensive foundation usually win tournaments, we couldn't be farther from this.

:ROFLMAO: Brilliant! Henderson isn't there. What is the rule about bringing in replacements? This is Southgate, he will be there somehow. Wearing a Wharton face mask?

Braithwaite will 100% go, even just for experience as he's the future England CB.

The squad has twice as many forwards listed as it does midfielders 🤯

Looking at the midfield, you can almost guarantee that Southgate will go with Rice and TAA. TAA isn't even good enough to be first choice their for Liverpool.

I know I know.

Part of my logic being he can hang back and effectively play left CB if either Stones steps into midfield or Walker goes forward. It’s Man City-lite.
then you go with Gomez who has actually played that role for Liverpool this year

It is annoying that our generations always seem to be lacking in one department.

We had CBs coming out of our ears at one point

Terry
Ferdinand
Campbell
King
Carragher

But we were having to try out duds like Vassell, Bent and Johnson up top or worrying about who plays left wing (Downing 🤮)

Opposite issue now 😔

In which case we need to go less like 90s AC Milan and more like Keegan’s Newcastle, for better or worse our strengths clearly are not at the back.
