Don't frequent this thread often, but have watched a bit of the current Trump cabinet meeting. Talk about surrounding himself with a bunch of ar*e licking, fawning people around him. They are articulate, obviously intelligent, but what the hell do they think of his rambling whittering. It's borderline comedy (if it wasn't so sad). Can't stop themselves having digs at Obama (almost as if to earn Brownie points from him). Trump spouts figures that he clearly makes up on the spot - it's cringeworthy to listen to. How on earth did this bufoon get to lead such a powerful country.

If his cabinet were really intelligent they wouldn’t have signed up in the first place.

The likes of Mike Johnson are pretty intelligent academically - it’s more the religious beliefs many operate with which dictates their thinking

He isn’t in the cabinet, all of whom were picked for their loyalty to Trump rather than their abilities to do their jobs. A lack of intelligence and a lack of a spine were almost prerequisites for being appointed.

Vance and Rubio are probably the smartest people in there which says a lot, but they’re as morally bankrupt as the rest.

Johnson is very loyal now to Trump - having been the opposite - and is in a very influential position.

Vance when you look at his background is also clearly far from stupid

He is, but Trump didn’t pick him and he was put in his position by his fellow Republicans. He will also be facing an electoral annihilation in the mid terms where loyalty to Trump will be a huge weakness, not a strength.

Congratulations Donald on another well deserved award!

It's embarrassing. It's like having to constantly praise and reward a needy, spoilt child.

Some of those involved in his cabinet aren't stupid by any means, and while I would still massively disagree with them over their beliefs, I really cannot see why they are kissing the arse of a man who is obviously incompetent, corrupt and basically stupid. They must realise the damage they're doing to their country and their party. They must see how bad it looks and that in the future, when the reality of Trump is known worldwide, this will be a millstone around their neck. Do they have so little dignity and morals that they'll do anything if they think it'll be a short term boost for them?

At some point the rats will leave the sinking ship and somehow try to claim the moral high ground as they're 'doing the right thing' (by which they mean for their own careers and reputation)

It’s like an episode of Black Mirror. The one with Jesse Plemmons. It’s Robert Daly and his digitally cloned crew. He talked about a pen and his cabinet was laughing like he’s a comic genius when in reality it was just gibberish. And Sleepy Donald Trump fell asleep again.

Ground invasion looking more likely, Trump considering sending 10,000 more troops. Insane.
Read something interesting from a journo in the White House pool.

He can't even be bothered to read the daily briefings so they're putting together a 2 to 3 minute video for him every day.

This basically consists of things being blown up which the article suggested, is the reason he thinks everything is going brilliantly. All he is seeing is footage of the US bombing things like its a movie trailer.

Social media has taken the attention span another great mind. RIP Donny T.

Jesus Christ.
Surely at some point (around about now would be good) there will be a wrestling of the controls in the form of a vote of no confidence leading to a leadership change within the party.
Other than Nixon has this ever happened in USA presidency?

There is a suggestion of triggering the 25th amendment on the basis that Trump has no idea what he’s doing. The problem is that he isn’t calling the shots anyway, the more switched on and malicious actors in his cabinet are.

he even joked about it yesterday:

As he gathered members of his Cabinet for their monthly televised meeting, President Donald Trump joked that if he gave specifics about his plans for the war in Iran, he “wouldn’t be sitting here for long” because his Cabinet would use the 25th Amendment to force him from office.

“I can’t say what we’re going to do because if I did, I wouldn’t be sitting here for long. They’d probably — what is it called? The 25th Amendment? — They’d institute the 25th Amendment,” Trump said, drawing laughs from his administration’s most senior officials. “Which they didn’t do with [President Joe] Biden, which is shocking.”

I suspect they will try to get away with using Trump as a scapegoat for as long as possible, then wash their hands of him in 2028. However if this year’s elections go as expected, the next 2 years Trump won’t be able to do a thing, at least not legally.

LOL, 10,000 is little more than a gesture when you understand they sent nearly 700,000 troops to invade Iraq in 1990.

Well it's a gesture that puts the lives of 10,000 US armed forces personnel in danger unnecessarily. You want to be the ones to tell the families of those that inevitably don't make it back alive that it's ok though, because they sent 70 times that many to Iraq?

If anything it makes it worse because it shows they're not doing it seriously and they're going to get some of those people killed just for show.
