If Vance gets in next, I think he will actually be even more antagonistic towards Europe in general.

Vance would be a nightmare, very little chance he carks it from old age any time soon either.

Yep definitely.

At the moment I think Trump is a useful idiot for people to get the ball rolling on a lot of this nasty shit and when the time is right he'll be booted out for Vance and things will get even worse. He's backed by Peter Thiel and he is shady as fuck.

If Trump goes after 2 years then Vance gets the remainder of the term plus two more terms = 10 years as president.

I think the Republicans have a tall order winning the next election tbh

The notion he’s going to look at invading a NATO country to avoid “looking over there” is pretty extreme
Hence why i said 'also', as it's likely not the primary motivation for this fiasco. The guy does have a record for lots of words and bluster with nothing concrete actually happening, which would lend some credence to him wanting to keep headlines elsewhere.

I think it's most likely the case that the lunatic genuinely thinks the US should own Greenland and he gives zero fucks what anyone else thinks about it.

Seems like things heating up in Minneapolis. A right wing influencer planned a rally where he promised to burn a Koran - it didn’t end well.

How so? Dickhead plans to do something deliberately incendiary and is met by disorder. I suppose it’s what Trump would refer to as FAFO.

Yeah, I mean it is unnecessary move and he was likely to get into hot water, but if you a burning a holy book to demonstrate a problem with free speech around it, and then you get beaten up, then it more or less writes itself.

Incredible how you’ve gone from “play stupid games etc” to claiming that burning a book is some kind of heroic intellectual exercise in a matter of days.

Hard disagree. He’s within his right to do/say what he likes, but actions have consequences. This bizarre idea that “freedom of speech” means you can say as you please and no one is allowed to respond to it doesn’t pass the smell test.

He really is a narcissistic twat…I think the whole,e of Europe should make a combined effort to stop buying anything American ..even if it’s just for a month , cancel all streaming subscriptions for a month ,no fast food outlets boycott American holidays .. see how his ten percent tariffs go then
The problem we've got is that we have entire infrastructure dependent on it, eg cloud hosting providers

Starting to worry this Jake Lang fella may not be the intellectual heavyweight that some posters are making him out to be

Pardoned January 6 protester Jake Lang staged an antisemitic demonstration on Sunday outside of the headquarters of the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC, where he threw chocolate coins and gave a Nazi salute.

During the protest on Sunday, Lang also made a series of racist remarks towards immigrant children, including that “they’re anchor babies sent in as chemical weapons by the Talmudic Jews.”

Dear Ambassador:

President Trump has asked that the following message, shared with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, be forwarded to your [named head of government/state]

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT”

As I predicted a few days ago...

US treasury secretary Scott Bessent also pursued a similar line, telling NBC broadcaster that “Europeans project weakness, US projects strength.”

“The president believes enhanced security is not possible without Greenland being part of the US,” he said.

In further escalation, he also appeared to link the future of Greenland with the continuation of the US support for Ukraine.

He said:

“The European leaders will come around. And they will understand that they need to be under the US security umbrella. What would happen in Ukraine if the US pulled its support out? The whole thing would collapse.

How does complaining you're weak and vulnerable unless you get control of Greenland project strength?

Believes is an interesting choice of word there. I'm guessing there wasn't a follow up question asking Bessent if he agreed with the president.

Framing it as a security issue is crazy when at the same time you're destabilising NATO and attempting to drive division in Europe. I'm sure its just a coincidence that they are also objectives of Putin.
