If was merely finding arguably the most extreme example in history of where downtrodden normal people thinking things couldn't get any worse provided enough support to a person for him to seize power and for him to make it much, much worse for them.

Possibly the most shameful and utterly shocking episode in Trump's tenure to date. I'm amazed and depressed at the apparent lack of reaction to this. Now he's trying to sell Ukraine down the river.

You said there was no way that people in downtrodden areas in this country could possibly have it worse than they do or how anyone could even imagine it could be.
I just showed you that people who had it much worse than them also thought it couldn't get any worse and it did. Much, much worse.

So if there is any stupid comment it's yours stating people here couldn't have it any worse than they currently do.

You didn't need to go that far back in history to be honest, look at what Trump has done in his second term. Cutting off the access of millions to healthcare, deporting the family members of some who voted for him, cutting off access to the food stamp program, and passing one of the biggest tax heists in history from working people to the richest in society. All while his trade wars have done nothing to ease inflation and he has made hundreds of thousands unemployed. Not to forget the crypto scams he's been launching on his own supporters.

I'd say a lot of those Trump voters are now worse off than before.
