His obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize is very interesting to me. It simply isn’t given to sitting US presidents very often and these days is almost always given to some random NGO or peace activist - I’d be impressed if anyone could name more than one winner from the last five years.

Is it an Obama jealousy thing?

Almost certainly, and to be clear Obama didn’t deserve his either.

It's like when people get agitated about who wins Sports Personality of the Year - it doesn't matter! They already won at their actual, much more important job!

There's certainly a strong arguement to suggest he didn't.

However there's a big difference between Obama getting it and being "surprised and deeply humbled", saying he did not feel he deserved to be in the company of those who had previously won and that he would use it as a call to action and Trump going round telling everyone it should be given to him.

He should definitely get it you clown as he’s bringing this war to an end and the hostages home. Was hilarious seeing you crying on here last night at apparent ‘homophobia’ when it wasn’t at all, shows how touchy you are….embarrassing

Let's hope he does end it and makes sure Israel keeps it finished.

As ever, Trump and his MAGA loyalists project what they actually do onto their political opponents. They actually do try to rig and steal elections, cancel people for saying things they don't like, and carry out acts of violence for political causes.

A war might be about to come to an end. We can see you struggling to deal with this, and the fact Trump might have had something positive to do with it by this childish post.

It's pretty boring at this point.

I'm under no illusions that Biden was anything but underwhelming and fairly sh*t and was useless with Israel and Gaza but the idea that Trump is some master diplomat or competent at anything besides selling merch and crypto is insane to me.

Trump has done what Obama and Biden never could

A quick word in the ear and Trump had done what Obama and Biden never could

Unlike his predecessors, the US president outmuscled Netanyahu and secured his made-for-TV Gaza deal

Now that’s what you call a clickbait headline!

Biden of course brokered a ceasefire deal earlier this year…

I think Obama had been out of office for a while when Israel rolled into Gaza so that part of it confuses me.

The article doesn’t mention Biden or Obama at all, so it’s a curious decision to share it with that headline

Israel is no great respecter of ceasefire agreements.
I expect they'll resume operations before very long.

Israeli construction along buffer zone with Syria violates ceasefire, UN says

New trenches and berms are being constructed along the frontier in the occupied Golan Heights.

Here’s how Israel is repeatedly violating the Lebanon ceasefire

A November 27 ceasefire was supposed to end violent attacks, but Israel has continued sporadic strikes on Lebanon.

I'll be absolutely delighted if Trump gets Israel to finally stop killing tens of thousands of children in Gaza. It's not unfair to point out that he's had the power to do this from his first day in office.

My concern is that as soon as the hostages are released, the disgusting psychopath at the head of the Israeli government will very quickly find an excuse to break the ceasefire. That's when we'll see how much of a peacemaker Trump really is.

We're really now just at a stage that should have happened within days of Israel starting its campaign. As soon as it became clear the response was disproportionate and targeting civilians and children that should have been the point at which the US President should have been putting pressure on to bring things to an end.

It should have been done long before Trump came into office but once he did it should have happened immediately.

While people of course want this to succeed and will be happy if it does the needless death and destruction has been immense.

Exactly. While Trump has now apparently done this and it's a very good thing, if it does end the war, he could have ended the war months ago, couldn't he.

He spent that time posting videos of him and Netanyahu sipping cocktails at the Trump Gaza and declaring that he would ‘take Gaza’.
