I think the best we could manage is harsh sanctions for political parties that engage in it. But you’re never going to stop someone typing “Tories eating babies” or “Gary Linkear shagging immigrants” into an image generator.

I worry about people who already can’t spot basic internet frauds just from text, I’m not sure how much worse it can get. I’d hope people who already understand information will adapt to just not trusting anything straight away.

Interesting times.

Isn't there a video format similar to RAW in photography?

My understanding of RAW image files is that they are read-only.

Could this not be applied to video files?

Post what you want, I just think it's pointless.
His terrible performance when he was president or his links to Russia are far more relevant.
It's the political equivalent to being 'dragged down to their level' in my opinion.

Showing clips of Donald Trump is far more tedious - his followers will vote regardless as they see him as the goodie - something I’m sure you can identify with.

Oh right his supporters will vote for him regardless so let's just never discuss him ever again.

Glad the internet police are cleaning this thread up - take note guys, no discussion of Trump in the Trump thread allowed!

You can get RAW video, but same issues as photos in that the files are massive and compatibility is a crap shoot. You certainly couldn’t run the modern internet without compression. But yeah, basically “Verified RAW or it didn’t happen” will become the new “pics or it didn’t happen”

An alternative Dem candidate could conceivably have been a better option than Biden, but it’s far from a sure thing and the time to get them in place would have been several months ago. The closest comparison would be LBJ refusing to seek a second term in 1968 and that ended with a crushing victory for the Republicans.

For better or worse, Biden sees himself as the best option to beat Trump and no-one close to him appears prepared to tell him otherwise. The fact that he was also written off in the 2020 election cycle only strengthens his idea that he can win again.

He polls better than the others but that could be at least partially to do with lack of exposure the others have with the general public. All feels a bit late to change horses now in any event….it’s out of the two old senile fuckers…assuming they both make it to Election Day

I didn’t say I disagreed with him! I think Biden’s electability is generally under-rated, and that was also the case in 2020.

Obviously, in a vacuum, you’d want a younger and more dynamic candidate. And there is surely someone else out there who could beat Trump handily in November. But we’re not in a vacuum, and that alternative candidate has (understandably) not mounted a serious challenge to Biden and is therefore more or less invisible to the public. It’s just not as straightforward as “They should run someone else”

Could be, but also he’s known so there’s less room to project your perfect candidate. Same as Starmer who polls above all other Labour MPs. The whole thing feels like disaffected lefties and mischievous righties concocting something out of nothing for drama TBH. Biden is fine. Very left wing for a US president. No less mentally capable than the alternative. Boring and safe.

When it comes to the American presidency Allan Litchman and his 13 keys to the White House system is always worth listening to. He’s only got it wrong once in 40 years and that was the first time George W got it in. Correctly predicted Trump when all the polls had Clinton as a shoe in and also predicted Biden when the polls had it too close to call. Saw an interview with him a few weeks ago and Biden already has a couple of the key’s apparently based on the strength of the US economy, low unemployment and the Stock Market’s being up.

Just watched Trump going on about Argentina and how they went MAGA and are doing really well because of it. Last I read he’s triggered hyperinflation, unemployment is skyrocketing and they’re already protesting in the street to get him out. He’s barely been in office 3 months and they’re already regretting the decision to vote for him.

Heard an interview with Anthony Scaramucci who is convinced Trump won't win and laid out his arguments why and they sounded pretty convincing but we'll see
You know if he does lose they'll be a whole 'nother level of stolen election bollocks.

There will, because Trump and his supporters think they are already so far ahead and that it's pretty much a forgone conclusion.

Stolen election conspiracy theories is a given from the MAGA cult even if Trump loses bigley.

For the sake of the whole world Trump needs to lose. For the sake of the US they need a Democrat majority in the Senate because the republicans and specifically the MAGA contingent aren’t there to benefit their constituents, they they’re to throw spanner’s in the works. Aside from their desperate attempts to get Biden impeached they vote against everything even if that means stopping government from working. They vote against bills that deliver money to their constituents and then turn up for the photoshoots when cheques are being handed out expecting a pat on the back. I think the latter may well be Trumps undoing. People see that (except the MAGA cult) and as a direct consequence don’t see the point of them and voting for them as a wasted vote. They’re turning off floating voters purely on their own record and behaviour in the senate. Hopefully that enough, that’s the straw.

Apparently Haley has pulled out, so it is a Biden/Trump re-match. Heard today that something like 70% of US voters don't want either of them. Didn't realise they were that sensible!

It holds about as much appeal as announcing Joe Bugner and Larry Holmes are “getting it on” in the near future
