It was clearly a handball and I'm shocked a referee of that standing failed to spot their player attempting to play volleyball.

In all seriousness, is this the first January window in forever that we haven’t been desperate for signings?

A team can always improve but I wouldn’t be worried if we didn’t sign anyone else. Torp has already been a nice surprise. Would much rather wait than sign anyone in a panic, like Maguire last year.

Absolutely. We do need another option who can play as a wide forward or striker but we have enough options in the squad currently to see us to the end of the season

He started out well for us but for some reason his confidence dipped and he always looked hesitant in possession. I’m glad we’ve moved on from him

I made a post at the start of the window when everyone was clamouring for a number 8 . I wondered then if we needed a number 8 with the current system we play and had we changed tangent . Lo and behold we ended up with Torp who can play a deep lying role but reputedly has a decent range of passing
Simlarly now has the target changed based on our league position ? Are we now looking at a higher calibre of player on the off chance we get promoted

Maybe a bit harsh, didn't mind him. Was expecting big things from Panzo from his early showings. Was sure he was going to be a massive threat from corners. Didn't really ever click fully. I'd say we have moved past his level now. We've had 4-5 CBs better than him since he first arrived.

I didn't spot the handball as it happened, was a grim feeling. I know it's pathetic but I've never watched the highlights or sat and thought through the match since. I'll just keep celebrating the Hamer goal with my lad and bottle up the rest!

It amazes me how he still continues to steal a living at a relatively high level. I understand Panzo is only 23, yes at times for Coventry CIty he showed signs of a top quality centre back when it came to his ability to drive the ball forward, first touch and passing. When i say "at times" i use the term sparingly, because it wasn't that often. In terms of Panzo's actual defending and defensive ability, he's a level below the likes of Mcnally, Doyle, Kitching, Binks, Thomas and even Hyam. I would see Panzo as a perfect fit for a Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn, QPR and at the absolute very best Swansea. So how he has managed to secure a move to Standard Liege, a team that of late have failed to impress and have definitely been underperforming, but Standard Liege in the last 10 seasons have finished 4th 5th and top 6 more times than not in the Belgian league.

Very true, but one good season for any of the teams all it requires is either winning the league or finishing 2nd and they qualify for the Champions League. The point i was making regarding Panzo was exactly this, he has 1 good season on loan, signs a permanent, Liege finish 2nd, Panzo is now a Champions League player. Panzo's stock will rocket based on the fact he is English and is playing in the Champions League. Football is a weird one where things like this is concerned, and this is all very possible, because as you just said the Belgian League isn't a strong league however the rewards are still huge.

Yep. It was an awful mistake. I was gutted…jubilant when VAR stepped in of course.

The pens were just a lottery, so I was fairly ok with going out in this manner.

I joke about Dabo being the culprit of our defeat but I’ve seen better players than him miss a pen eg Roberto Baggio World Cup final.

Chris Waddle, World Cup semi. Both his and Dabo’s are still in orbit

I was annoyed at Robins for selecting Dabo to take one. Throughout his career at Cov Dabo had never shown anything that suggested he would have the composure and technique required at that moment.

Regarding my disrespectful comments towards Luton Believe it or not, i am actually rooting for Luton this season in the Prem. The thought of all these Premier League prima donnas having to play in an 11 thousand capacity stadium that is half a bleeding house is absolutely brilliant. I genuinely want nothing but the best for Luton in the Prem, proper underdogs. Where Sheaf is concerned, i just cannot honestly see how Luton is an attractive proposition for a player that is arguably the most consistent in the Championship. Sheaf will know Luton might be able to double his current salary but with relegation almost a certainty, the implications of that reality will not only see Sheaf lose almost 2/3's of his weekly salary because of the relegation wage reduction clauses in player contracts. Sheaf will also be watching a mass exodus of Luton's star players. It is the sad reality of some of these small time Football Clubs, the likes of Coventry City with one idea of promotion and spending money in order to achieve that is the complete opposite of a club that is relegated, where the objective for any relegated club is to reestablish financial stability, which usually comes in the way of selling star players, rebuilding a squad with capable Championship players and this comes with a transitional period, which for some clubs can be 3 years before pushing for another crack at promotion and this is only if they get things right. Most clubs free fall, the manager loses star players, gets 1/3 of the budget to rebuild the squad, doesn't get time for the players to click, gets sacked, cycle repeats. Sheaf ain't going nowhere!

Reduction clauses in contracts happen of course.
Why would he go there if that affected him?
A mass exodus did not happen with Southampton, Leeds or Leicester? One or two of them may lose players next season.

I’m rarely in shell shock at moments in our matches but panzo’s lax error in the 119th minute of a championship playoff final did sum
him up in a lot of ways. I’d imagine it made robins mind up whether we signed him again… kitching and binks much better players so it’s worked out ok!

Not worried, but I think that’s because we’re ok with injuries at the moment. I’d like to see another one or two. We need a strong bench for the run in.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. He didn’t look confident on the ball. However, Robins chose the penalty takers on the day, he must have seen something in him. Someone had to lose, we were so close.

I’m certain we’d do better with the team we have now providing we have a fit squad of course.

PS. You’ve got me dreaming about us going to Wembley again. It was a great day.

Forever grateful to Robins for all he’s done, our greatest manager in recent history and one for the HOF. Though his decision making on substitutions or for ex. choosing Dabo for the pen last season baffle me. Definitely his Achilles heel.
