If that’s correct that doesn’t feel too bad. Their chairman will want to be bigging up price after saying Kitching wasn’t going anywhere but £4m-£5m being thrown around felt a bit out of kilter with likely price

I get what you are saying. That of the 100s of players in world football that fit the criteria we are looking at, you can't believe we can't get one over the line.

The problem with that view, though, is the assumption that we have the scouting network to assess all of these players in the detail required and that we have the team to negotiate deals for each of them. That's on top of the 9 signings we've already completed this summer.

Reality is very different. There will be a priority of 2 or 3, and the negotiations for these will take weeks. Some times they come off, sometimes they don't. Seems we have been unfortunate this window in that they have not.

I'm not sure how this has anything to do with the distinction between Robins hoping for ten and "promising" ten, though.

He’s more of an 8 than a 10. So slightly more box to box than sheaf or eccles but should be able to play in a 2 or a 3 (as we played last season towards the end of the season with kelly eccles and hamer behind godden and vik)

On the assumption Kitching signs we've gone from having 1 36 year old contracted to having two 23 year olds and a 21 year old as well. It's absolutely undeniable that the overall depth of the squad has been improved and a more solid basis for long term progression achieved.
