The HOR comments are flattering

Rocky is just 22, has played over 80 senior matches, and has a lot of room for improvement.

They'll certainly have money to spend but a significant chunk will undoubtedly go towards offsetting their eye-watering losses over the past 2 years.

Davis is English and is under contract at a PL club.

The same applies to Archer, who's also young and currently excelling in England's U21s.

The two examples aren't really comparable as Villa don't actively need to sell and are in a position where they can price their players at overinflated values - we aren't.

You see personally I’d say Villa do need to sell fringe strikers seeming as they have such ambitious transfer plans and want to bring in Strikers such as Suarez and bought Coutinho who will be on big wages

As always Platt, thanks for being the wanker who checks Google to correct anything anyone ever says… where would we be without you?

Just so you don’t have to stat check me, I’ll check Google so you don’t have to. My main point was…
Keinan Davis is 24, Gyokeres is 24
Davis scored 5 in 18 league appearances, Gyokeres scored 17 in 45 league appearances.

If Davis is valued at £15m you would ‘hope’ Gyokeres would be valued similar seeming as he’s a full international (without factoring in having the UK price tag increase Davis would have)

My additional but not as important comment was Archer was of ‘SIMILARISH’ age with a hefty price tag. I didn’t state exactly how close that was but in future I will ensure I check Google for every comment on the basis there might be a wanker out there like you correcting everything anyone says

They of course need to finance their transfer activity, which will in part be facilitated through the sale of fringe players, but I think it's more of a case that they're pricing Davies at an overinflated rate to see who will bite. Similar to what Liverpool did with Solanke. If they actively needed to sell they wouldn't price Keinan Davis at £15m. Baring in mind in April they'd priced him at £4m. Slight difference.

Regardless, the club isn't in a strong enough negotiating position to do similar and as such Gyokeres won't be going for anywhere near £15m if he's sold this season.

Wonder how Gyokeres himself would feel about going to M’boro. The wage hike would be nice but I’d imagine he would want his next move to be a higher division.

A dreaded sunny day,
so let's go where were happy,

Other than a short term financial gain doesn't seem like a good move for him. He'd be leaving somewhere where he is guaranteed first team football for a team in the same division where he may not be. A risk worth taking if it was a move to the Premier league but I don't see it for a move to another Championship team. It may be that our way of playing suits him but he wouldn't work so well in other teams. Let's not forget he had a disastrous time at Swansea.

He didn’t really have a disastrous time at Swansea - when he came here from there he was never a first team choice and an apparently injured Biamou was ahead of him

Middlesbrough have intent to be promoted

Yeah I think fans are very much deluding themselves thinking it wouldn't be an attractive proposition for him.

They clearly have serious aspirations of returning to the PL and would most likely double his wages.

If I was in Robins boots I would just tell Gyokeres that if he has another season like he did last year he will almost certainly be a Premier League player this time next summer. Could be with us (unlikely) but if not and he has 2 seasons scoring double figures in the champ he would have a pick of options.

If he moves to another mid/upper Champ team he is back to learning the system, building an understanding with team mates and gaining the trust of a manager. It took 6 months with us before he truly clicked. Unless he is determined to make the jump to a lower end Prem team right away he'd better off putting his head down and improving his game here where he is loved and settled, with the understanding he can make a bigger and better move next summer.

Fully agree, he needs to prove he's not a one season wonder, and if he can reach 15-20 goals again, lots of Premiership teams will be very interested in him

To be fair if I was him and got offered a move to middlesborough on double the salary for a 3 year deal I’d bite their hand off. Be mad not to, set for life

Short career, and one shit season could derail you.

Well yes but it isn't down to him. Unless someone pays the money we want he won't be going anywhere. He loves it here and I think another season with us we both would benefit in a year's time.

Totally get the short career argument but I do feel like he sees himself as on the way up rather than someone like McNulty who was a few years older and wouldn't have another opportunity.also I really think Vik cant be on an astronomical wage as it stands. Won't happen but if he did want to recomit to a middling Champ club we could offer double what he is currently on to tie him down.

I'm just glad we are for once in a strong position regarding his contract and don't need to take the first offer.

Never saw him play for them of course but no goals in 11 appearances and I thought their fans were very negative about him.

I think your last point is a totally different one to the point I am making. It's a risk for him, and is it worth it to go to Middlesbrough when Fulham might be an option. I doubt it personally.

Only problem with the first paragraph it that’s it’s all ’if’ he has another good season

Footballers have short careers and everything has to balanced.

Yes Gykores could score 20 + next season and guarantee a move to the Prem

He could also score 5 and become our next boo boy with the chance of a decent move gone

He could also injure himself next season meaning any big move is gone.

All of which the club and Gykores have to consider

I get that but I really feel he isnt a player with that mindset. The lad is a current international who has come off the back of an excellent season he'd back himself to push on again.

I also think he'd still have a fairly high stock even if he didn't replicate his goal scoring this season. He offers so much to the team even when he had a dry patch. It would take a lot to go wrong for him to change his whole style. Say he scores 5 all next season there would still be plenty of Championship clubs willing to take the gamble.

Unless a massive yo-yo champ or prem team comes in I really think he would be better off sticking put and using this as a delevopment year somhwere he is a 100% gurenteed starter

Appreciate all of your points however have a slightly different take on it

1. We don’t know if he is that sort of player or not ?
2. How do we know wherever he MAY end up he won’t be a regular starter ?
3. Coming off the back of an excellent season, his stock may never get this high again ?
4. Where do we assume his style of play will have to change ?
5. Championship clubs are fickle - along with supporters at times. If he scores 5 next season his value plummets despite how good a contribution he makes to the team
6. We have to accept that we do not have the funds to pay top wages, others do. If you were offered to double your salary tomorrow you would probably take it
7. All of the points above are irrelevant until we gat a serious bid

Some may call me negative - I’m not. I want Gykores to stay as much as anyone else but I’m also realistic

To top it all off, Godden is the better goal scorer out the 2 ( if we can keep him fit)

I really can’t see Villa having to sell players. Sawiris is a multi billionaire so I can’t see money being too much of a problem.

Giles will go to a top championship club, he shows up well on the ‘chance created’ metrics for a wingback. He’d be good for a team that put a lot of crosses into the box.

Realistically Gyo will be off this summer if we get a half decent bid even if it's to a team in our division once they offer more wages and if we can't match it he will be off. He has been a good investment for the club
